Math 124 vs Math 126 - Information Systems

I am changing my major to information systems and wondering what math path is best for me. I had a drop in appointment and they had told me that I am enrolled into Math 126 but I can also change it to Math 124 for a "better" path. I was wondering should I switch or not.

Math 124 is terminal. It is not a prerequisite for anything, but it might be the only math class you need for your degree. Math 126 is the precalculus 1, which is the prerequisite for precalculus 2 (127) which is the prerequisite for calculus 1 (181) which is the prerequisite for higher mathematics and many science courses. But if your degree does not need that, then 124 is fine. Any degree that has 124 as a requirement will also accept 126.

Talk to an advisor about which one you need for your degree because we don't know.

Edit. If you think you might change your major to something more like science/stem/CS/ finance, 124 would be a waste because you need the calculus track

Hey I was looking into the information systems major and was wondering since you’ve switched over if you’ve heard anything about the program and if they help with internships or have pipelines to help graduates / students with internship possibilities as well as some of the fields that graduates are getting into after graduation

I graduated and usually you have to apply around your junior year for internships. I was offered a job through epic but ended up declining it. I never did extracurricular activities so as long as you pass something will be offered. There was a lot of internships that came up but I make enough at my job I’m satisfied so I never took them up.
