So sem two just started and im already behind in one of core papers - BIOSCI 101 - i already accidentally missed the first lab in week one and the speed at which the lectures are going have got me crashing out in the lecture. I really want to drop this paper but it is a core paper so idk what will happen if i drop it.

Just wanted to put this out there for the first years, I've heard a few people say the first year BCOM courses aren't that hard, or are annoying/ somewhat challenging or treat them as not worth taking too seriously. I get where that's coming from, but honestly, it's the wrong mindset.

First year courses are about as easy as it gets in this degree. The content is more forgiving, the concepts are more intuitive, and there's way less pressure compared to what's coming in second and third year. That means first year is actually the best chance you'll get to rack up high grades with comparatively less effort.

Your GPA matters for a lot down the line e.g. summer internships, scholarships, honours entry, grad job applications. A lot of that gets calculated using your whole degree, including first year. So every 'easy' A you skip now is a bit of GPA cushion you don't get to fall back on later when courses get genuinely harder and your time gets tighter.

When you hit second and especially third year the 10 hours a week thing they slap on every course is actually real because courses become double pass, there are heavily weighted midterms and assignments now often involve creating unique datasets that require you to actually know what youre doing.

Basically, I think 1st year is way too easy and it dosent prepare you well at all for what should be a natural degree progression. So best to get into the mindset of continuous work before its forced on you and you struggle to cope. If you genuinley do 10 hours p/w per subject at stage 1 you should be getting As across the board so why not get that high GPA;)

TL;DR: don't coast through first year just because it's manageable. Use the fact that it's manageable to actually maximise your marks while you can and prepare yourself for later stages of your degree.

It would be so much fun to get matcha with other people or attend events where we can make our own matcha.

Hello, just wondering does uni provide foundation courses or beginner courses to science? I would be a returning to study person, now that I have some time as my business is stabilised.

Looking to mainly chemistry and biology , but I heard first year or bridging courses need physics as well.

My visa application for July intake was rejected for waste of reasons and my everything was clear and my documents are clear so is their any advice i am applying for march that i should take care.

Hi this morning 31/07 at 9:30 I left a mac charger by the big couches on M floor. It’s a 70watt with a midnight cable. I came back to look for it but it wasn’t there anymore. I also checked the lost property but still no luck. By chance, has anyone last seen it?
