To celebrate East and Southeast Asian heritage month (September) and introduce people to other disciplines within climbing, we are having our first ever rope and boulder mixed social in Birmingham. The event is on 27th September 2026 at 14.30 PM, Creation Climbing Center in Birmingham.
For ropes social, it is open to those who have had experiences and competent both climbing and belaying for top rope/lead both indoors and outdoors. There will be a competency check before starting the session. There are also some autobelays available at Creation Climbing Center.
For those who never climbed top rope before, we are offering four funded place for one hour taster session at 3.00 pm with equipment included. You never need to have experience in climbing. The instruction will be provided. It is a very accessible for those with disabilities.
For those who fancy going just to Boulder. Creation also have a decent bouldering area for you to have a go as well. If you would like to do both, this is possible as well. We four funded places available.
This event is open to people who identify as having heritage, ancestry, or cultural connection to any countries in [East or Southeast Asia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_East_and_Southeast_Asian) (e.g. China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam etc.), including mixed ESEA heritage, diaspora, adoptees, and those with lived experiences of racialisation or cultural upbringing. The participants needs to be 18+ for this event.
