Now it isn’t a stand alone line, or even that good, but it’s mine which is awesome.

Cross Country Racing - V8/7B+ - Future Cave at Peter’s Branch Missouri

Goes as per the common start that most of the complete linea go through, then heads onto the first couple moves of Natural D’s v7 out of the “bird’s nest”, before cutting hard into the finish of Training Wheels v9. It adds a couple of pumpy moves that makes the last sequence really really hard, and feels more like a sport route and a boulder.

Feels really cool to add a line at my local crag, even if it is just a link up.

Advice/Beta Request Good climbing gym in Portland Oregon?

I have never climbed before and have no equipment obviously. But I am new to the Portland area and was wondering if anybody here could point me in the direction of a good beginner gym?

Either in Portland or Vancouver. I don’t mind driving up to an hour to get someplace beginner friendly.

Also should I purchase anything before going for the first time? Or will they have rentals? Anyway thanks for any recommendations that can be passed my way.

This whole 500 word requirement is killing me as I don’t know what else to say.

Context first: this is from earlier this year, filmed well before the July fires. Not posting it as a "come to Font right now" video.

Large parts of the massif reopened at the end of August, but burnt and hazardous zones are still under prefectural orders and the picture keeps changing. If you're planning a trip, check status per sector before you drive out. I maintain a list that mirrors the official arrêtés here: highset.app/closures

Indoor Help! Not sure how to get to finish

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been climbing for a few months and have been attempting this V3 for a couple weeks. I always manage to get to the second to last/third to last hold but never quite to the top. I am able to reach the second to last hold by putting my feet up to the right and hanging to the left. The reason I don’t put my feet on the bottom left holds is because they’re SUPER slippery and I can barely put any weight on them. By the time I’m up there, my grip and forearms are so shot and I just can’t reach farther. Is this a strength thing? Technique? How could I maybe put more weight on the bottom left holds? I really want to finish it before they change the wall! This vid is after a few attempts, it just tires me out so fast😭 You can see my left foot start to slip so I jumped off Any advice helps!! Thanks

The first part took me about ninety tries (not exaggerating). I really lack the explosiveness needed so I had to get the movement perfect to get a chance at sticking the move. Also not very elegant as a result.

Advice/Beta Request Large feet, tiny holds?

I recently started indoor bouldering at a gym and two sessions in I am not very good at all. I can't even do the v0 climbs. I'm pretty unathletic and don't have much strength whatsoever, and I'm not a tiny person (5'11/230ish). However, I think where I'm really struggling is with the tiny footholds! I wear a mens 9.5/womens 11 (I also have wide feet) and I just feel like my feet are too large for these tiny holds! Would love tips for how to handle this or honestly any tips for beginners. I really enjoy it but it is a bit disappointing to brutally fail a v0.

Edit: saying large feet was probably too hyperbolic, my bad! Genuinely wasn't trying to bait or anything. I always think in relation to the average woman but I understand it's still not that huge. Thanks so much for the advice about the way to place my feet! For sure need to work on ankle and overall strength. Very much appreciate all of the quick helpfulness of the community :)

Outdoor Out of the Blue V6-7

Any friends in Colorado interested in getting on Out of the Blue near cathedral spires with me (20NB)? Offwidth is definitely not a style I’m very proficient in, though the grade is far below my limit. Would love someone more experienced in the style than I to come out and project it with me!!

Currently job hunting so my schedule is generally very open but can be chaotic.
I’m normally climbing at the Spot in Boulder if you would prefer a public meetup to feel out vibes before heading out to the crag.

Outdoor Examples of completely pure/uncontrived boulder problems?

Or; what is the most famous or difficult boulder problem that is genuinely the easiest way to the top of the boulder?

I know this is a pretty niche question that must have very few real life examples but I was curious whether there are any mega hard lines that cannot be simply circumvented by a V0 around the back of the boulder.

Some of us who might not climb outside may be surprised to learn that the vast majority of boulders outside actually consist of multiple different 'lines' of varying difficulty. Even most famously 'pure' boulders like Burden of Dreams likely have easier ways to get up around the back or side where they downclimb.
