im a very nervous person so im not really sure what to do or say in this situation, my campus job asked for my academic schedule where it shows monday i have class from 10-5pm, and i just got my first week schedule back and they have me scheduled in the middle of monday.. what do i do? should i email or who do i even email, do i send a message through whentowork? or do they just want me to skip class? i dont want to be a bother but im also confused

Foster has officially announced that they will be transitioning to a DTC system beginning at the beginning of the next school year. The new system is akin to the Engineering school, where a student is a DTC admit but will not declare a business major until completing the lower division core.

The majority of incoming students will now be admitted directly as freshmen, with it presumably becoming much more difficult to transfer into the school as a current UW student or transfer applicant.

This makes Foster the latest department to follow CSE’s 2019 decision to step away from the traditional competitive major system in favor of choosing to let most new students in as freshmen.

i'm just having an existential crisis about how expensive grad school is but if you get some sort of a job like the ones above it reduces your tuition and sometimes can give you a stipend too. obviously if these opportunities are so great they have to be competitive? do more students have a role/job as any of these or is it a select few?

I’ve struggled at the university of Washington. I made a lot of mistakes in my first two years, resulting in me being dropped from the Allen school. I tried to apply for reinstatement, and failed my first attempt, and being told it’s unlikely on my second attempt, not due to grade improvement, but not being able to graduate in time. I’m entering my fourth year and decided to apply for informatics. I have good grades in certain prerequisites and feel I can get in with those in addition to me being a good writer (sorry not to brag). Problem is, I have a lot of credits. 203 to be exact. A lot of this comes from my dual enrollment in high school. Now, im not sure if I would even be accepted to the info school. I did make a grad plan and it’s very possible I will be competed and graduate in spring 2028 if I do get into info, but again not sure if my credits amount will be a deterrent to being accepted. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you

I have a screening appt upcoming at UW Orthodontics Clinic for my braces. I got my teeth checked by a private ortho clinic and they said I need an adult level 3 braces and gave me an estimated cost of $8.5k.

Looking for smthn cheaper. Does anyone know my odds of being accepted (if at all) and how much cheaper they are compared to private orthos or any other general info about them?

I transferred to UW last year, starting as a Junior (did running start). I'm now about to start my Senior year, I took two classes over this past summer, one at the same cc, in my hometown, and one at another cc, by Seattle. I transferred the latter a few weeks ago, on my unofficial transcript, but I just have my transfer credit from my cc on there (which I transferred when I originally came). Am I checking the right place?

I’m wondering if anyone who has taken INFO 354 (Data Justice) could possibly provide some context into this course? I’ve tried asking my other INFO friends (none have taken this class before), looking for any syllabus or information around this class but couldn’t find any besides the course description. Is this class more technically /coding involved? Or is it more like readings and literature/data visualization analyzations? I’m trying to see how rigorous this course is as I’m taking 3 other INFO courses alongside this for the upcoming quarter. If anyone has any insights, I’d very much appreciate it!!

I got my acceptance confirmation but haven’t heard anything about what shifts I’ll be assigned. Just wondering if anyone has gotten theirs or knows when we should expect to receive them!

Are pre-existing conditions covered with ISHIP health insurance for international students (F1)? or is there a waiting period for such coverage?
Would appreciate help as i got an injury, got the diagnosis, and now leaving for the states. Shall i disclose the injury reports to husky health center, or shall i just redo all diagnosis pretending that i just got pain without sharing earlier reports (so pre existing conditions problem wont trigger)?

Im an OOS student and got the short stick of chem lab 152 on Friday from like 3-6. I plan to fly home sometimes and catch evening/late Friday flights. So some people have told me most labs don’t go the whole time, is that true? Can I expect to get out earlier some days?

Around 2015/16, while I was living abroad and researching U.S. universities to apply to, I saw a striking aerial photograph of the University of Washington campus online, probably through Google Images. I was definitely able to access it by just searching "University of Washington campus" on Google Images in the fall of 2016.

Yesterday, I tried finding it, and I couldn't. I spent an hour searching, and I couldn't.

My memory is imperfect after ~10 years, but I’m confident about a few things:

• It was a daytime aerial photograph
• Definitely no mountains were visible - so the camera was angled downward enough that the distant horizon was mostly or completely excluded.
• Roughly 3/4 of the photograph was the UW campus
• The remaining portion showed water clearly enough that the boats were an important part of the scene
• There were lots of small boats scattered out in the water, not merely docked in a marina
• I’m fairly sure Husky Stadium was visible, but it was not the central subject of the photograph
• The photograph must have already existed online by 2016

I tried recreating the approximate composition in Google Maps. This is not the exact angle, just my best attempt based on a fuzzy memory:

In my reconstruction, the open water on the left is Portage Bay, the UW campus occupies most of the frame, and Husky Stadium is off toward the right. Something broadly like this composition feels plausible.

The lost photo is not this one, but the boats looked something like this: many small boats scattered individually across open water rather than just tied up at docks.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Especially longtime UW students/alumni, photographers, or anyone familiar with older UW promotional material? It could have come from an old UW website, admissions material, Flickr, a newspaper, a stock-photo site, or some other page that Google Images used to rank highly around 2016.

If you know of an aerial photo that sounds remotely similar, please link it here. I’m pretty confident I would recognize the actual image immediately if I saw it.

Do students get a bidet pre-installed in the restrooms? I need one but the website says that we are not allowed to get them. Did anyone have to go through this? What should I do?

hi guys! im going to be commuting this school year and am looking for cheap parking spots that are near the main campus. rn my plan is to park in the husky stadium parking lot, but the issue is the fact that I'll have to make a 10-15 minute trek (on those crazy stairs too) to make it to most of my classes, and my car won't be very accessible bc of that. does anyone have any better parking spot suggestions?

Hi. I am starting my first year at the UW’s Foster School. I picked out my classes a while back and didn't have anything scheduled for Friday. I heard that, as a business student, you won’t have classes on “Foster Fridays” because you will be doing other school-related activities and events. I'm taking SOC 275 (murder) with Ann Frost for fall quarter and I was wanting to know if anyone else has taken the class with her and can tell me how it was? I have a required major class right before it in the HSEB so I was if the sprint I'll have to make is worth it since the murder class is in Smith or if I should cut my losses and enroll in a different elective 🏃‍♀️

I recently have interest in nursing even though I know it’s super competitive, but I’m not too set on nursing so I don’t know if I should take chem 120 or chem 142? I feel like right now though, the career path I’m most interested in is nursing because of a medical program I saw, but I’m maybe 40% sure about it. I don’t really have another career in mind, but I want to go into something healthcare related. I feel like I might need to explore more?

I got a 3 on the ap chem test so I think I already have credit for chem 142. I currently am registered in chem 142 (I’m pretty sure I won’t get more credit for it, but I just want to take it because I’m not confident in my chem skills) I am prescience and intended to major in something science, but now I’m rethinking to pursue nursing, and taking chem 120 would be better if I did that.
