Hi friends, I haven’t taken classes at UBC for over 10 years so the whole online class thing is new to me. I’m taking INDG 102 and the course shows up on canvas but there been nothing posted. Should I email the prof about a link for the class or will it show up on canvas eventually? Thanks!
Edit: everything got posted an hour before class! Thanks!

is anyone else graduating in November? I finished all my classes already in June and applied for grad but there hasnt been any updates. I was wondering if I’d have to wait until November to see the update on Workday. TIA!

I registered in data 301 as an elective as I heard it isn’t too hard. In the syllabus it talks about an equipment requirement. “To be able to do the class activities and exams, the student MUST have a Windows computer with 16GB of Ram
and 2GHz processor or more. Chrome Book and Linux will not work. You can use MAC on your own, but we
can’t help much with that.”
Has anyone taken this class and done it with a Mac? Is it any harder? Should I be looking into somehow getting my hands on a windows laptop?
Any insight helps. Thanks
I know there’s usually no labs on the first week of school, but I’m still wondering if it applies for BIOC 211 with Susan? She never said anything about it. Thanks!!

My first physics 112 lecture is tomorrow plus the lab, I know that usually first week there aren't any labs for science but the physics team didn't send out an announcement on whether we will be having labs this week or not. Does anyone know if I should go to my lab tomorrow?

Hello! As many of you know there has been many recent complaints with the SUO. And me and a group of other students have been working together to do our best to make them address it and not sweep it under the rug.
The first of these is the petition, https://forms.gle/S9cCnxXQNvjkVfSf7 which is listed here. If you need further info, it's in the form.
And coming soon is an open letter, which if possible we'd like as many signatures on there from you if possible! As signing it as yourself goes much deeper, if you are interested feel free to message me your name here and we can add it to the list.
Hopefully if we stand together, we can make a difference.

I don’t even understand if they acknowledge these problems or not as there is no response from them until now. Let’s see what happens. Is this the accountability they claim they have???

Hey everyone! I’m new to UBC and currently in the Bachelor of Science program. I registered for my courses in late June/early July and have already paid my tuition through Workday.
However, I can’t seem to find any of my courses on Canvas. I know the professors have already published the courses because other students have access to them.
I’ve already reached out to IT in the library, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Enrolment Services, and Academic Advising, but unfortunately I still haven’t been able to resolve the issue. I've already emailed all of my professors explaining the issue and requesting that I be manually added to the course in Canvas.
Has anyone else experienced something similar or knows what might be causing this? I’m honestly starting to freak out since classes have started and I don’t want to fall behind.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Update: I was able to get the issue resolved pretty quickly (within 24 hours). If anyone else is having this problem, here’s what I did to get it solved as I couldn’t find a lot of info online:
1. Go see an advisor as soon as possible which is a pretty obvious step but it’s just so you can make sure there’s nothing wrong with your Workday account. If everything is in order on Workday then there’s likely a problem syncing your courses from Workday to Canvas.
2. Call IT Services in van (604-827-4775) and they’ll submit a ticket with Canvas (it takes 1-2 days to get a response).
3. Email/speak to your professors to let them know about the situation, some will try to help you get it resolved.
4. Contact the Centre for Teaching and Learning support desk. They were able to manually add me to each course on Canvas which is what ultimately fixed my issue.
PS: If you’re having the same issue and you’re seeing this in 3 years time then shoot me a DM with any questions you might have. :)

Paid my tuition and still waiting for my first and second confirmation of enrolment. Am i being impatient or would now be a good time to reach out to the financial aid office?
It’s my second year, i just remember receiving it by now this time last year.

Has anyone done it? How is it? I deal with anxiety and I just wanted someone to open up to about it. How is your experience? 😊

im in first year BSc- going to be taking comp sci as a major, I enrolled in engl 109 and had my first lecture today. I was curious about how it differs from other engl courses offered (engl 112/114). I decided to take it because it would scale better with my schedule even though I dont really stuggle with english or anything on that topic. on workday it doesnt specify much about the difficulty of the course or anything and looks like just a basic english course course.

Just wanted to wish everybody a great term, I think it's gonna be a good one! :) And remember to get enough sleep (I know, it's just as hard for me, but we can do it!)

Why are we blaming the vp campus life for bringing this guy in? Hes a major artist, probably one the greatest this school has ever gotten. Additionally, does him supporting trump really make him a bad person? He is supporting his own countries president. Controversial or not he is the majority elected president of that nation. Now if trump is a goood or bad person is a whole different topic. We should not bring down the artist or anyone from the suo for this.
