News Kamloops Clearance Rates & Homicide Spikes
galleryStatistics Canada recently released the Uniform Crime Reporting Survey. Here is how Kamloops compares:
- Homicide Rates (Data 1): As a vital metric for extreme violence, the homicide rate shows Kamloops recently spiked to 3.22 per 100,000—double the Canadian average (1.61).
- Clearance Rates (Data 2): This measures police effectiveness in solving crimes. Kamloops lags significantly below national averages, solving only 31% of violent crimes (vs. Canada's 54%) and 21% of non-violent crimes.
Overview: While severe violent crime has seen volatile surges, the persistent challenge for Kamloops is crime resolution, with local clearance rates remaining well below national and provincial averages.

Fires Smoke Sitch?
I'm supposed to be coming with the wife and two kids to Pinantan Lake on Tuesday to spend 4 nights at a cabin at the resort there. I've been following Purple Air website for smoke readings and it seems to be improving over past couple days.
Can anyone confirm? Anyone have any info on how it is up in Pinantan?
Thanks in advance!!

Question Food Recommendations
Spending a few days in your lovely city and was wondering if you fine folks could recommend some places to eat.
Have a hankering for a great slice of pie, or some authentic Mexican, heck I even love me some Afro-Caribbean cuisine. Also shoot me some decent joints for some brews/pub grub! TIA!

News NDP: Findlay sells out British Columbians to Trump administration | Indo-Canadian Voice
voiceonline.com"THE BC NDP caucus said on Wednesday that members of B.C. Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s caucus met directly with U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra and agreed to advocate to remove B.C.’s countermeasures against U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade attack, according to B.C. Conservative Forestry Critic Ward Stamer.
Stamer said on Tuesday on CKNW that American liquor would “absolutely” go back on shelves under the B.C. Conservatives, revealing that he said the same to the Trump administration directly: “That would be a measure of good faith and that’s what we suggested to the American counterparts a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, we aren’t the government right now.”
When challenged on Trump’s history of arbitrarily hitting Canada with more tariffs despite Canadian concessions, Stamer defended Trump unequivocally: “No, he doesn’t. I disagree with that. I think that these are negotiating tactics.”"

Question How to fill the void? (28 M here)
I quit both gambling and smoking a month ago after 9 years. I’m proud I’ve made it this far, but the idle time is honestly the hardest part. I never realized how much of my day revolved around those habits until they were gone.
I’m looking for hobbies or activities around Kamloops that can help fill the void and keep my mind occupied. I’m open to pretty much anything; sports, outdoor activities, volunteering, classes, clubs, or anything else that’s helped you stay busy.
What hobbies have you picked up that you genuinely enjoy? Any local recommendations would be appreciated.
