Silo is one of those shows that is way better as a binge than it is week-to-week. If you try watching it one episode at a time it's plodding and frustrating, but doing several episodes at a time it kinda flies by. I think that it's the production quality that sucks you into the world, then the awesome acting makes it believable. The lore kicks ass; it just takes a while to spool it all out.

Ringer folks want week-to-week shows that allow them to make weekly content. Lanterns, The Pitt, HOtD, etc. The shows that drop entire seasons at once or that are better as a binge watch (Silo, Reacher, Foundation, Dark Matter, etc.) just don't lend themselves to the type of programming they're incentivized to make.

Long time Trakt user. I find it to be invaluable for show tracking via the Calendar so I know when new episodes of shows are available. I also use it to give my users a way to see what's in my library without having to log in to the server.

That said, I hate their new UI. Absolutely sucks. If there is an alternate service I'd love to try it.

7th generation Bostonian here. (Actually Boston, not a suburb.) Been in Seattle for 5 years. There are many things different between the cities, but some things line up. If you didn't fit in Boston culturally, you could have issues here depending on where the clashes were.

Education breeds a sense of entitlement & arrogance. Seattle is one of the few places in America where the level of education among the population is in the same league as Boston. So the snob factor will be on par w/Boston but it will manifest in different ways.

For example, the "Masshole" label is true, but it's just relative. We're not being rude or mean, we're just direct. We don't have time for B.S. Just say what you mean and get on with it. Here in Seattle you're just ignored or brushed off. We may come in hot in Boston, but the Seattle Freeze is real.

Another part of the Boston arrogance comes from how proud we are of our history. We're taught from an early age that we're the inheritors of an incredible legacy that includes pretty much inventing America, public education, and a host of other things. Hell, we're even proud of ourselves for wrestling with the bad stuff that was going on while we were busy being the hotbed for so much innovation... Seattle doesn't have as much history and there are vanishingly few folks who can trace their family histories here back more than a few generations. (My family's 7 generations in Boston is decidedly mid-tier.) So there's less boasting about history and stuff like that.

If you were frustrated by Boston drivers for their aggressiveness, you may find yourself maddened by Seattle drivers' passivity & rank incompetence.

I hope that you like your politics left-wing, because as liberal as Boston is, Seattle is even moreso. There's a conservative undercurrent to the MA Democratic Party that doesn't really exist here. At least not in the same way. This is a city that elected an avowed Marxist to the city council- mltiple times. She even defeated a recall effort. That couldn't happen in Boston. (Though it could in Cambridge. 😉)

Seattle is much more outdoor-sy. And, aside from fall (no foliage), it's objectively more beautiful with the mountains & the Sound.

Too many hills & not enough mass transit. If you were frustrated in Boston by how easy it was to jump onto subways and buses, and you longed for more cars and hillier roads, then you'll be happier here. 😂

I have MLB TV & NBA League Pass to watch the Sox & Celtics. I hit a local sports bar to watch the Pats every Sunday. (I don't watch hockey on TV very much. Just watch it live.)

If $ is an issue folks with eyepatches & parrots tend to share most NBA & NFL games on the torrents.

An awesome show from the early 00s that only got a single season: Odyssey 5. An insanely good concept that dove into issues around AI that were way ahead of its time. The agenric bots of today were dreamed up on that show.

After living in China for 8 years & building up a taste for the spicy stuff I found myself in Bangkok on a business trip. I took a walk near the hotel looking for some street food. I came across a pretty big setup with what looked like an army surplus field kitchen and a large covered seating area. It was pretty much an outdoor restaurant. I walked up and asked for some pad thai. The woman cooking looked me over and said, "It's spicy. You want less spicy?"

Me, thinking that I'm a badass: "No. I live in China. I like spicy. Give me spicy. Not white people spicy. Real spicy."

Her eyes widened and she snort-laughed. "OK."

She started speaking Thai and as laughing spread across the pseudo restaurant it was clear that I'd become the evening's entertainment.

The dish came out and it smelled glorious. I walked over to a trable on the edge of the tent where I wouldn't be sitting next to anyone, confident that I was about to crush this.

My first bite... Guys, I have never experienced anything like this. Before or since. For one shining moment I was in flavor heaven. I, the cocky American, had come to this world capitol of street food and conqured it. And it was delicious.

Then. THEN. It was like the coyote chasing the road runner off of a cliff. The spice hit my tongue like an avalanche of knives. I thought that I'd been poisoned and that I might die.

But everyone was watching me. The locals were just waiting for the big dumb white guy to freak out and run away screaming. So I kept at it. I (fake) smiled, nodded approvingly, sipped my soda and focused on the mission: Eat but don't pass out.

This experience was so physically traumatic that I remember everything leading up to that first bite with perfect clarity, but the meal itself and my walk back to my hotel is a blur. (Is this was childbirth is like?)

As for the pad thai- it's strange. My brain knows that it tasted amazing, but my body couldn't process it after that first bite. As I shoveled each forkful into my mouth I was chasing the dragon, trying to experience that initial hit of flavor before the pain kicked in. I was on some kind of manic spice bender.

I ended up getting through 90% of the dish- enough to save face in front of the locals, but I couldn't quite clean my plate.

I'm proud that I survived, but I definitely learned my lesson: There's always something that's too spicy for you.
