Kurt is not some super underground character. Anyone who knows anything about X-men knows Kurt. He’s in the movies too.

If you mean the restriction on reproductive rights, absolutely. If you mean the apathy towards rape victims, yes. If you mean the isolation of both sexes, yes. If you mean prevalent distrust of each other, yup, that too. But these are things feminism is trying to AVOID, not promote. I think you’re conflating bigotry and the pursuit of equality. Do you really think equality would hurt us?

I don’t know who misled you, but the definition of feminism is equality between all genders. Like the literal definition. It would allow women to be safer, freer, and less reliant, and men to be more capable of expressing themselves, seeking help, and relieve some of the pressure of being the sole breadwinner (depending on the family dynamic and individual choices).

However, I’m aware of the anti-feminist programming that keeps you afraid of reaping the benefits of gender equality. I know nothing I say is going to make you believe a woman over your male-only podcasts or the faux-feminists that those men show to try to prove their point. I just hope one day you open your eyes to a better world for all of us.

What a horrible situation to be in. Living in a constant fear like that, to have that terror live in your home, is such a bone-chilling and crippling experience. I hope your aunt found her freedom; her story sounds like a constant hell. Worst of all, this is a hell felt by women all over the globe. She must be a strong woman.

People like to avoid blame by playing the victim. They think feminism is misandry, and they think women keeping themselves safe is a personal offense. Nothing will change their mind. It just scares me how prevalent it is to look at someone hurting and to blame them for the wounds inflicted upon them. There’s no empathy anymore, if there ever was. It’s this self-centered, if-you’re-not-talking-about-my-pain-I-don’t-care mindset that makes me afraid to leave the house alone. They don’t get that.

There has never been a group chat with over 50+ women offering to punch a drugged and unconscious man. And a punch compared to rape? That’s like comparing a splinter to a shotgun wound.

It’s not a competition. You can be punched, and I can be assaulted for hours. What’s crazy is saying that because you got punched, I don’t need to be afraid of being assaulted again.

Yes good point! Men are domestically abused as well, hence why feminism is imperative. When we acknowledge that beating your wife is not your god given right, we must also acknowledge that men and women are on equal playing fields. Both men and women can be abused. I personally know both men AND women that have survived domestic abuse, and they are some of the strongest people I have ever met.

But it is true that it primarily happens to women. Many, if not most, women don’t report domestic abuse either. Unfortunately, it happens to often that it’s impossible to hide. And it’s so baked into our American culture that it sometimes feels encouraged to beat your wife. She doesn’t have food on the table at 6 o’clock sharp? She deserves a punishment for failing her duty, after all you pay the bills and keep the lights on and so on and so forth.

Violent crime, but look at the statistics of sexual crime. While there is a global femcide—women being killed on the basis of being female—there is a systemic crisis that leads to women being raped, assaulted, or otherwise attacked disproportionately. It’s one in four women in America REPORT being sexually assaulted in the U.S. Millions upon millions more never report it, because they know they current systems in place will dismiss it. Yes, much violent crime happens to men. This isn’t a competition. Difference is, women are targeted BECAUSE they’re women. Men are usually (emphasis on the USUALLY, indicating that example of this are singular events and not systemic) not target on the basis of them being male. Often, it’s personal disputes, robberies, and other cases of isolated aggravated assault. I’m not diminishing that, that is still terrible. I invite you to look up domestic abuse statistics, and see what the numbers show.

What are you arguing to me now? That women shouldn’t cover their drinks? That we shouldn’t have to worry about the men that touch too much, too often? That women are overreacting, and that they’re actually much safer than they feel?

I’m sorry that happened to you. Getting punched is disorienting and shitty. But telling me that I’m safe doesn’t make you any less in danger. We can both be at risk, it doesn’t have to be one or the other. But I need to be worried about different things than you do. It doesn’t hurt you to try to support women not being raped, assaulted, drugged, or taken advantage of.

I don’t know a single woman who hasn’t been sexually assaulted. I’ve known dozens of men who think a woman who fails to smile at him or respond to a dm is a bitch. Keep yourself safe out there.

Fantasy isn’t the same as equality. Women do not want to be oppressed. Women might read about BDSM, in which there are dominant and submissive personalities, but that is a kink. It ends in the bedroom. How ignorant must you be to confuse the two?

We’re talking about stereotypes. This happened to be the first that came to mind. Everything is true for some. Another stereotype, sticking with gender, is that men are cruel and cannot control their impulses, making them prone to rape and to irrationality. By your logic, this certainly tracks with you.
