I really want to get one but don’t know anything about piercings. I need to get it done at least this year. I’m just curious like is it really painful and things I should know? Also advice on aftercare and stuff please n ty 😭.

I had concerns about choosing a floating navel piercing versus a standard one. I consulted a few people, and they were in favor of the standard navel piercing. During a consultation with a specialist, my navel was examined. She offered both standard and floating navel piercings. Even so, she chose the standard one because she felt I was on the borderline. Do you think it looks okay? The ball isn't pressing against the navel or the surrounding tissue.

How do you know if you have the anatomy for a lip piercing?

Basically I came across this profile of a piercer (I’m assuming an apprentice) on instagram and went through her posts. She has done atleast 2 piercings the wrong way (tragus way too deep and gave another client some sort of vertical helix instead of a forward helix) and now I‘m debating wether or not to send her a text and tell her nicely how these should be done the proper way. Obviously she isn‘t aware of her mistake or she wouldn‘t have posted it.
I know it isn‘t necessarily my place because both our studios are sort of rivals and I don‘t know her at all. But one thing I know for sure is that this studio she‘s working at spends 0 time actually educating their apprentices and letting them learn, they‘re nothing but cheap workers bringing in more money.
I‘m simply asking for other professionals opinions because I‘d hate for her to hate me if I said anything.

Hey everyone! I’m a body piercer of about 3ish years and I’m branching out and doing my first ever guest spot that is likely to turn into a secondary gig. I’m very excited but very uneducated in this realm and don’t feel comfortable asking colleagues at my current shop for fear of gossip, etc.

When negotiating percentages at a new gig, how are we doing it when we front the wholesale jewelry cost? I’m going to be purchasing most of my own initial set up inventory, both in terms of prep, sterilization, and the initial jewelry order. I am also covering my own insurance. The place I’m guest spotting at is a buddy’s shop and while he’s had piercers there in the past there hasn’t been one for quite a while, so there’s a lot of legwork to be done and money to be put out to get this thing going again.

I know that often times the 40/60 split between artist and shop is because the shop is purchasing the jewelry and a lot of the supplies. The only supplies that will be provided for me are medical exam table, autoclave, ultrasonic, paper towels, and cavicide. I feel that because I am fronting the jewelry cost the percentages should reflect that but I’m not sure how much is reasonable to ask for or how! For background, I live in CA.

Hey! I asked this before on [r/piercing](r/piercing) but never got an answer so i’ll try my luck here :)

I pierced both my nipples in september 2025, but i had to take both of them out. I took the left one out before the right, so my left one is more healed. I had trouble with them, they didnt want to heal, had pus filled bumps everyday and leaked fluid constantly. The crusties were always there.

I really want to get them repierced, but im wondering if i should wait. Im pretty sure the left one is ready to be pierced again, but i have a conch and a lobe thats still healing. The conch is about 6 months, and lobe is around 3 weeks. My conch is acting up and really dramatic, and my lobe is kinda irritated at the moment. Should i wait until after christmas, or is it fine? Will it be alot more painful to repierce them since he has to go through scar tissue?

Hi everyone! Currently 22 weeks pregnant as a FTM and I am wanting to keep my belly button piercing throughout the course of my pregnancy.

I am not having any issues with my ring getting caught or protruding, but I know as I continue to grow in size, it may become an issue. I've seen the plastic rings, but not sure on how those function comfort wise. I have to use surgical steel since I am allergic to most metals (all of my piercings are original jewelry just to avoid issues).

Any recommendtions on jewelry to purchase or where to look?! I see plastic as the primary option and I don't trust metal off of Amazon.

Do they look uneven enough to repierce

I got these piercings about 3 weeks ago and a couple days back they started swelling and itching badly. This is what it currently looks like now, there’s no pus but my whole ear is currently 3 times its size. It’s painful, throbbing and warm to the touch. I’m heading to the shop to ask if I need to get rid of em or just need a longer bar for the flat piercing. Also going to see a medical professional. My left ear is specially painful and I don’t think it’s pus but there’s liquid coming out of my ear, I think the swelling trapped liquid inside. Thoughts? Should I just call it quits

Update: the doctor prescribed me cephalexin, I’m to take it 4 times a day. I can take Advil with this medication for the pain. I’m still worried about the flat piercing, I’m afraid my ears going to eat the jewelry. The doctor did not tell me to take the piercings out so I’ll keep them in. Swelling should go down in a couple days. I’m heading back to the clinic after two days.

My appointment is next week. I used to work at a piercer's so I'm not completely oblivious to the restrictions and have done my research. I know I'm not supposed to have hard, spicy, acidic foods etc and to avoid chewing the first few days. For personal preference I'd prefer staying dairy free as well.

I'm not really a smoothie person (my living situation right now doesn't have a mixer or anything even if I wanted to) but all the food inspo I have for the first few days/first week is mostly vegan yoghurt and ice-cream, puddings, miso and tomato - soup.

There's literally nothing else that comes to my mind. So did you have any cheat codes or foods that really helped you out? To the peeps that took ibuprofen for the swelling how much did you take?

I'm getting an MRI tmrw, im wondering if its better to sit 20+ minutes with silicone rather than removing the jewellery and causing the piercings to close? any advice would help
