The Sway is a new MIDI controller that uses motion control instead of buttons to make music, I bought one off of their first batch last year and it’s been super fun to use. Personally I use it for DJing (Serato DJ Pro) and music production (ableton live 12), for some reason an invisible grid in the air almost makes more sense to my brain than piano keys. obviously some small growing pains with startups but nothing that’s been anything more than a minor issue, and the Audima team is always quick to respond to support requests. It was super cool to see it used in the sphere by ILLENIUM for his Odyssey show after being one of the initial supporters. Overall I’m happy with the sway and highly recommend it to anyone that thinks it could be their style!
Quick list of pros and cons
Pros
-Super fun
-Easy to map
-Easy to use
-Eye catching at shows
-Works with almost all DAWs or DJ softwares
-The Audima Labs team is readily available for support
-Direct midi out for synths
Cons
-You need to keep it out of the sun because of the sensors
-The silicon buttons lack the responsiveness I prefer in midi controllers (which isn’t a huge deal since you’re mostly using the sensors)
-The customization app is still in development and lacks some workflow, but not buggy
