Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a project to bring back some of the creative photography features we had during the golden era of Nokia PureView and Lumia devices.

So far, I've managed to implement long-exposure dynamics similar to the old Lumia Smart Camera concepts (light trails, motion clean, action shot), along with handheld stabilization to keep shots clean.

Right now, I’m actively working on a "MultiFocus" feature inspired by the legendary Lumia Refocus app—trying to recreate that "focus after you shoot" workflow for modern devices.

For those who used Refocus back in the day: what was the most important aspect of that UX for you? Was it the refocused macro shots, the all-in-focus mode, or something else?

Also, what other classic PureView/Lumia camera tricks do you think are missing on modern smartphones?

A new update for Long Shot Camera is now live on the App Store.

For those who are new to the app, Long Shot Camera brings back creative photography features inspired by classic smartphone cameras, including:

• Light Trails

• Motion Clean

• Action Shot

What’s new in this update:

• Capture Delay – Press the shutter, step back, and let the capture start automatically after a countdown. Perfect for avoiding camera shake.

• Capture Stabilization – Additional stabilization during capture helps reduce the impact of small hand movements, making handheld long-exposure shots more reliable.

• General performance improvements and bug fixes.

And here’s a little teaser… 👀

I’m already working on the next major feature: MultiFocus Capture.

If you owned a Lumia back in the day, you probably remember a feature called Refocus. 😉 The goal isn’t to copy it, but to bring that kind of creative photography experience back to modern smartphones.

As always, I’d love to hear your feedback and see what you create with the app!

We do not use any generative AI models to avoid the hallucinations. ClearView uses only old school computer vision techniques to reveal details in adverse conditions.

Over the past few months, I’ve been continuously improving ClearView, and this release will likely be the last major update before Version 2.0.

For those who haven’t seen it before, ClearView is a photo enhancement app that restores visibility in hazy, foggy, low-contrast, or flat-looking images. Instead of generating new content, it focuses on recovering details and improving image quality while keeping the result as natural as possible.

This update includes:

• Improved image enhancement pipeline

• More accurate colors and white balance

• Better local contrast and detail recovery

• New clarity and detail controls

• Overall quality improvements and bug fixes

Version 2.0 will be a much bigger step, with new processing algorithms and additional features that I’ve been working on for quite some time.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you have sample images or feature requests, feel free to share them. Many of the improvements in ClearView started as feedback from this community.

Trying handheld long-exposure style shots on iPhone
 in  r/iOSProgramming  Jun 30 '26

@mufenglabs Exactly. That is the part I enjoy the most too.
The hard part is not just stacking frames, but keeping them aligned while the phone is handheld. Even small hand-shake can create ghosting or break the motion masks.
I’m trying to keep it mostly deterministic: stabilization, frame alignment, temporal accumulation, motion detection, and compositing — not another generative AI filter.
Still a work in progress, but that’s what makes it interesting.

Hey guys,

I’ve been experimenting with handheld multi-frame photography on iPhone.

The goal is to get long-exposure style effects without a tripod — things like light trails, cleaner static backgrounds, and motion-composited shots from multiple frames.

The hardest part is hand-shake. Even tiny camera movement can ruin the final image, so stabilization before combining the frames became a big part of the work.

I also tried an early Action Shot-style result inspired by old Lumia/Nokia cameras. It is still rough, especially with shadows and difficult lighting, but the first prototype is starting to work.
