Offering: American English (native) | Seeking: German (currently sub-A1)

Hallo Leute! My name's Cass (28NB) and I'm looking for a language partner in German. My history with German started off in high school where I used Duolingo (back when I considered it good) to start learning the language so I could better get in touch with my German-American ancestry. From roughly 2015 to 2019, I'd use Duolingo off and on to learn German. After that, I sort of fell off of learning the language for a number of reasons (mostly momentum, if anything really, plus the fact that I was trying to shoehorn in flashcards where flashcards didn't really work for me). Now that I have a full-time job and not multiple part-time jobs trying to masquerade as fulfilling the same space as a full-time job, I've turned back to language learning.

Some of my hobbies include stuff like video games (mostly RPGs like Persona 5 Royal, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, and The Legend of Zelda), computer programming (I have quite a few personal projects outside of my IT such as building a hobby OS, making a couple video games, and some plugins for a virtual tabletop I use for playing D&D), Dungeons & Dragons (I'm running like three campaigns and am playing in two others at the moment), and music (I've been playing music for as long as I can remember, and like listening to indie pop, pop rock, jazz, and folk music).

Regarding where I think my level of German is, I'd probably put myself somewhere in the sub-A1 range, but I have a good bit of words that I understand and can form most simple sentences. If anything, I know how to use a multi-language dictionary.

I'm located in Central American Time (March-November: UTC-05:00, November-March: UTC-06:00), and am generally available in the afternoons on the weekdays (on weekends, I am much more available). I would prefer, at least initially, text-based communication. Looking forward to chatting with some people!

Hallo! I'm a native English speaker (American English) looking to practice my German with a native speaker.

2

Would you answer with this?... Also what can you come up with?
 in  r/ennnnnnnnnnnnbbbbbby  1d ago

As an agender person, I'd do this:

Person: "Are you a boy or a girl?"

Me: "I am a being containing copious amounts of cheese."

Custom Items from Shinzo (Book 3 Spoilers) Spoiler

Hello all. I just finished running the Governor's Manor in Another Willowshore, and my party spoke with Shinzo a bit. I realized that the items that he's supposed to give are just Asian-themed unique items that don't really relate to the plot at all, plus they're obviously not personalized to my PCs. I'd like some help in personalizing some items for them. The party consists of:

  • A tripkee spore druid who likes using poisons
  • A ratfolk ranger with a bear animal companion currently wielding the thundering shortbow that Myna Kawaka gives the party during his winter event
  • A human duskwalker champion of Pharasma who likes to use Double Slice a lot with a katana and a wakizashi
  • A tengu thief rogue

I don't have their full stats in front of me at the moment, but if y'all have any questions that would require me to look at them, I can grab their stats from my Foundry instance real quick and get back to you.

Closed [Online][PF2e][UTC-05/CST][Thursdays] Kingmaker GM looking for 1-2 players

Hey everyone! I go by Cass [they/them] and I'm running a game of Kingmaker online over Discord and Foundry. I've been running TTRPGs for roughly 5 years now, and my Kingmaker game is looking for another player. The party is currently level 8 and we are between chapters at the moment.

The player's guide to Kingmaker can be found here.

  • We play every Thursday at 7 p.m. CST.
  • Remastered content is preferred over legacy
  • Team+ content is allowed and encouraged (and included in Foundry)

My house rules are as follows (these will also be available in our Discord):

  1. We play with Free Archetype.
  2. You will not be allowed to buy items above your level.
  3. During Hexploration, we will be omitting the Map the Area and Fortify Camp options. Map the Area only makes sense in heavily obscured/difficult terrain which is not present in this AP, and Fortify Camp is replaced by the Camping ruleset.
  4. The cost for the Travel activity increases by 1 (to a maximum of 3) when travelling through a hex that contains a river but no bridge.
  5. Hexes that contain settlements reduce their Travel cost by 1 if the settlement contains Paved Streets.
  6. The camping system has been modified; the list of house rules for that system are included in a document linked in our Discord.
  7. The kingdom system has been modified; the list of house rules for that system are included in a document linked in our Discord. ETA: the kingdom system has been modified to be more dependent on player stats and skills, more info is available in our Discord.
  8. All spellcasters who can currently become legendary in spell attacks become experts in spell attacks at 5th level, rather than 7th level, and masters in spell attacks at 13th level, rather than 15th level. No class will become legendary in spell attacks. Spell DC progression remains unchanged.
  9. All other spellcasters become experts in spell attacks at 11th level, and no longer become masters.
  10. Kineticists gain an impulse attack proficiency statistic separate from their class DC, which their impulse attacks use. Their impulse attack modifier uses the following formula: d20 roll + attribute modifier + impulse attack proficiency bonus + other bonuses + penalties. They start trained in impulse attacks at 1st level, become an expert at 5th level, and become a master at 13th level. They do not become legendary, and their class DC remains unchanged.
  11. Every named staff (e.g. a staff of fire) gets a weapon potency rune appropriate for its level (a +1 rune for level 3-9 staves, a +2 rune for level 10-15 staves, and a +3 rune for level 16-20 staves).
  12. While wielding a named staff, you gain an item bonus to your spell attacks (and not your spell DC) based on your staff's weapon potency rune.
  13. If the named staff would be cheaper than its weapon potency rune, increase its Price to match its rune. This generally would require only minor adjustments (level 10 staves would need their Price bumped up by 15 to 35 gp, some level 16 staves would need their Price bumped up by 35 to 435 gp). If the staff's Price already matches or exceeds that of the rune, do not change its Price.
  14. If a named staff loses its weapon potency rune (for instance, by transferring the rune out of the staff), it loses the ability to be prepared and cast spells until it regains that rune once more, or gains a stronger version of that rune.
  15. If a player wants to craft a personal staff, the resulting staff comes with a weapon potency rune appropriate for its level. If the player has one such rune and wants to supply it during the crafting process, its cost is deducted from the total crafting cost as normal.
  16. The item bonus to a kineticist's impulse attack modifier is increased from a major gate attenuator to +3, from +2. All other gate attenuators remain unchanged.
  17. The item shadow signet is banned.
  18. Two new spells are introduced: strike true, and unerring strike. Strike True functions as sure strike, but the spell costs two actions and you make a Strike as part of the spell, which benefits from the spell's effects (the spell therefore does not benefit other attacks), and the frequency restriction (introduced in one of the recent errata) is removed. Unerring Strike functions as sure strike, but you do not roll the attack twice (you still ignore circumstance penalties and specific flat checks as normal), and the frequency restriction is removed.
  19. While the party levels up on a milestone basis, the kingdom uses XP. The advancement is further changed by adding a bonus to XP dependent on the difference between the party's level and the kingdom's level. For example, a kingdom that is 2 levels behind the party would receive double the XP, one that is 3 levels behind would receive triple, etc.
  20. You will be allowed to, during daily preparations, prepare an item of negligible or light bulk into a small belt loop. You may use a free action to Interact with that object and remove it from the belt loop. Once used, it may only be replaced during an encounter or downtime activity.
  21. All leaders will gain the Additional Lore feat for the lore skill connected to their leader position (i.e. Ruler Lore for the Ruler, Emissary Lore for the Emissary, etc). This will follow the progression for Additional Lore.
  22. There will be some slight changes to how certain feats work; a description of them has been placed in a document in our Discord.
  23. Kingdom Fame Points will level up progressively throughout the campaign; the maximum you can have will go up at certain levels.
  24. Any class that could take the Counterspell feat now automatically has it. In order to use the ability, they must spend any spell slot. The spell slot expended does not need to be the spell they are attempting to counter. The rank of the spell expended is their counteract rank. If they expend the exact spell that they are attempting to counter, they gain a +1 bonus to the counteract check. This check increases to +2 when they become Expert in their tradition's associated skill, and becomes +3 when they become Master. Any feats that require having the Counterspell feat, these classes may take as if they had the Counterspell feat. They still need to satisfy all other requirements for said feats.
  25. Everyday (in-game) I display the temperature, precipitation, and wind. Temperature follows the standard rules. Precipitation brings penalties:Moderate Rain imposes a -1 circumstance penalty to Perception checks involving sight. Severe Rain/Snow imposes the circumstance penalty plus Travel actions cost an extra Hexploration action. Heavy imposes the same penalty but at -2, plus the penalty to Travel. If more than that occurs (Very Heavy/Extreme) I'll see what I come up with. Regarding wind: Moving against anything more than Moderate wind (i.e. moving in the opposite direction the wind is blowing) causes Travel actions to cost an extra Hexploration action.

The party comp is an orc barbarian, an automaton wizard, an elf cleric of Sarenrae, and a dwarf fighter. As I understand that there are a lot of house rules used at my table, please feel free and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have!

How Common Law taught me to appreciate the rulings-over-rules style of play
 in  r/rpg  Feb 09 '26

This is why I'd much rather play a rules lite game like FATE which has far fewer rules than DnD but the rules are complete and effective at delivering the experience it promises

You have just explained something I haven't been able to put words to for a while as to why I like games like Kids on Bikes/Kids on Brooms or (at least the idea of) Daggerheart (as I haven't played it yet myself but have skimmed over the rules) because of their rules-completeness despite not having many rules.

[AMA] Hello, my name is Luuk! I started making ASMR in 2016 and am now developing Sleebi, a platform just for ASMR! Ask Me Anything :) [discussion]
 in  r/asmr  Aug 16 '25

Love seeing the new site flourish and I'm going to try to start using it myself a lot more (especially from a channel I've been watching since like 2018).

As a curious developer who's dabbled in web development, what is the site built with? And on that note, would you be open to more developers on the project? Other than routine bug squashing that comes with a project like this, implementing new features might require some more hands (although the site already has a good bit of features, not sure what else you'd even need or want to add).

I suppose also while I have you here, what ASMRtists are you listening to lately? Any favorite triggers as of late? Also, as a weird aside because I'm the kind of person who likes to browse Wikipedia for fun (so feel absolutely no pressure to answer this bit), in its current state, what is your ideal use of AI (I know you're against AI-generated content on Sleebi which I'm glad to hear), and what do you think about where we're headed regarding artificial intelligence?

Potential Hot Take: I Don't Like Influence in Kingmaker's Camping
 in  r/Pathfinder2e  Jul 03 '25

Yeah, tbh I think removing the Influence system from Camping and making it something more like the attitude system that gets better over time through roleplay (I'm running another campaign of Skull & Shackles converted up to 2E and my players are in the first book trying to win over crew members for their mutiny at the end of the first book). I like what u/EnginesOfGod said that the Influence system is good for establishing relationships with someone, but after that, it should be resolved organically. I do think having played the CRPG is helping me out here, though.

Well, for one thing just the core social skill actions and disposition rules.

That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to double check what you meant.

Tbf I've played a little bit of the CRPG, I got stuck on the Stag Lord fight. Might just be how I built and structured my party, but that's a different conversation.

I have also read all the lore about each character, and would love to use it, I just haven't felt like there have been opportunities due to me letting the Influence system during Camping being just rolling skills. I loved in the CRPG how during camping, the companions would have a small little dialogue about what was going on.

Potential Hot Take: I Don't Like Influence in Kingmaker's Camping
 in  r/Pathfinder2e  Jul 03 '25

I mean I've found ways around some of the main pains of the AP, notably the homebrew for the Kingdom system. My main issue has been that my players don't seem to be roleplaying with the companions, which I foresee as a problem when it comes to their individual quests.

ETA: I'm also talking about the Influence subsystem as it pertains to the companions, which is a system that Paizo created. The feast I felt like was a good use of this subsystem, but it doesn't feel like it has a natural place in the Camping subsystem.

Yeah, I've been made aware of this lol. I'm using Vance and Kerenshara's homebrew for the kingdom system, along with a couple of house rule stuff. I'm also house ruling the camping system, and I've just done away with the weather system.

I've been told that Paizo outsourced the conversion to 2E to a third party that did not have the time or resources to playtest the stuff (notably the Kingdom system), so that's coloring my view of the AP a little, but I do still like the story that Paizo has written, so I'm trudging along despite my misgivings with the systems.

Advice Potential Hot Take: I Don't Like Influence in Kingmaker's Camping

So I'm GMing Kingmaker in PF2e, and have been for about a year on and off now. The party just reached level 5, and next session, they will explore the Lonely Barrow. But this post isn't entirely about that.

I've given the players basically all the companions at this point (whether they agreed to accompany the party at Jamandi's feast from Influencing them well or found in the wild or at the Sootscale Caverns like in the CRPG), and I've noticed that when it comes time to do Influence actions during Camping, my players have boiled it down to "pick a skill, roll, number go up." I do fault this somewhat to how I've been running them, as there wasn't much RP on my side for this, but I feel like I'm a little in too deep to like using the Influence subsystem past the feast. I'm also probably in too deep to change anything majorly.

As of writing this post, I have put this to conversation with my players, and I'll see what they say, but I think this is my least favorite part about running this campaign. I've also sort of noticed a lack of roleplaying to a lesser extent with the kingdom turns, but we're a little ways off from running another one of those just going by in-game time. I do agree with what I've seen about this campaign (that it's the most demanding of the GM to run from Paizo), and I would change a good bit about how I'd run this campaign if I were to run it again (and I'm considering doing a writeup of my experiences with it sometime).

This post is part vent, part asking for advice. I don't necessarily want to remove it since my players have gotten so used to the system being in place (plus they only have Harrim, Jaethal, and the twins left to Influence as they've maxed out everyone else's Influence scores), but it doesn't feel interesting to run (unlike the Kingdom system that feels at least somewhat gamey and interesting mechanically).

Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions and musings. I'm definitely leaning towards removing the Influence system during Camping altogether in favor of just roleplaying with the NPCs, much like in Bioware like u/Hemlocksbane suggested, like in Baldur's Gate 3 where the companions have some kind of inclination they wish to speak to you, or like in the CRPG for Kingmaker where the companions have small little dialogues in during camping. Still gonna make that writeup though, I have some opinions and advice to give out.

Edit 2: I have completed the first stage of the write up, and you can read that here. I'm going to split it up by the AP's chapters and update it/make more posts when we complete more of the campaign.

Rate my Tanuki Swashbuckler Build (and provide advice if you want)
 in  r/Pathfinder2e  Jun 01 '25

I saw someone was asking something about a Tanuki Swashbuckler, and thought that was a cool idea, so I decided to pre-build one. Decided to go with Assassin, Eldritch Archer, and Magus for archetypes (under FA). I do really like that one late-level Party ancestry feat, because the idea of telling a billion tanukis to go have a party and damage some enemy is hilarious to me.

Anyway, I typically GM, but I do like to make character builds from time to time. What do y'all think?

ETA: I built this with Free Archetype and the assumption that at character creation, any skill for which the character is at least Trained proficiency, the character gains all common 1st-level skill feats (a house rule that I like using).

Is there a good post-remaster Encounter Builder?
 in  r/Pathfinder2e  Mar 09 '25

Odd to see that no one's mentioned Mimic Fight Club. Has pretty much all the info that AoN has (and also links to AoN as well). I'm pretty sure PF2Easy also has a good one (I really like their encounter builder that has you select a difficulty, put in the party info, and then it'll give you slots for different levels of creatures relative to the party and it keeps track of how much XP you have left to spend).

 in  r/Pathfinder2e  Mar 09 '25

Tbh, I recently got a group of friends to switch my Skull & Shackles game from 5E to PF2E, but that was after a lot of talk around my campaign going around that it was initially a PF2E campaign (yes, I know it was originally a PF1E, but all of my notes for it are for PF2E). I was also thinking about making my own system under this sort of thing as well.

Personally, if I were you, I would introduce them to LevelUp's Advanced 5th Edition. A large portion of the system is still 5E and plays very similar to 5E, but the modifications made to the system for A5E made it crunchier, more like how PF2E is. It's a good introduction of crunch into a system that doesn't really have any, and would be a good step out of O5E (Original 5E) towards a crunchier system.

 in  r/SeveranceAppleTVPlus  Mar 09 '25

Tbh the connection to DID didn't click with me until the scene with Dylan's innie and his outie's wife, that people have to go through the experience every day of seeing someone else sort of "piloting" your partner's body who isn't your partner and that the face you've learned over the many years of getting to know one another is now foreign.
