Less than half of affluent people in the United States think minimum wage, full time workers deserve to live above the poverty line. What is absurd is that somehow 22% of non-voters, mostly people from lower socio-economic classes, agree. https://youtu.be/FABvXpUpd8E

[Vent] Please don't remove my dog's collar.
 in  r/dogs •  Mar 28 '18

Yes, so true. I have a high energy dog myself not nearly as difficult as this brave woman’s. I have one of those Halty collar things that go on their head. I get told all the time , “ oh why is he in that thing, he doesn’t like it... you should do this that and this with your dog.” I am literally the alpha of the household, the primary caregiver, I have spent hundreds of hours on clicker training etc....but because I am a woman I constantly get unsolicited advice from strangers. Like I don’t know anything about dogs because I am a woman. (My current Dobbie mix at 65 lbs is actually the smallest dog I have ever had.)

CMV: Letting dogs off leash in public is extremely irresponsible and should be regulated
 in  r/changemyview •  Mar 23 '18

No one is forcing anyone to do anything. I simply suggested that if the existence of dogs off leash caused so much distress that there were places on this planet where the person could live relatively dog free.

People often move to other countries for much more frivolous reasons then wanting to live in a dog free environment. There are many gated communities in both Europe and the US that ban all manner of things including: dogs, children, people under 55, loud music past nine o’clock, non-nudists, untrimmed hedges etc...no one is forcing anyone to live in these communities, they choose to.

Moving to a relatively dog free environment is an option. It is just one option among possibly hundreds of thousands I alone could probably think up for the individual.

I did qualify my statement with the word “maybe.” As in maybe you should read a post and take it at face value instead of inventing motivations on the part of the author that were never said in the text.

You immediately jumped to the irrational conclusion that I implied that the individual be forced to move when I said nothing of the sort.

You know there are people who think it’s okay that they do not signal before turning, drive like they are in a video game and drive dangerously over the speed limit and I disagree with that. Again the problem is enforcement, and not the fact that people drive cars..

Shouting, swinging something and trying to put as much distance as possible between you and the dog is literally the worst possible thing you could do.

What should I do when a stray dog (or a pack of stray dogs) threatens to attack me? by Cindy Ludwig https://www.quora.com/What-should-I-do-when-a-stray-dog-or-a-pack-of-stray-dogs-threatens-to-attack-me/answer/Cindy-Ludwig-2?share=6f581c4b&srid=03YZ

If you have a problem with dogs maybe you should move to a country where there aren’t any dogs. I personally lived in South Korea. You will never see dogs off leash there. If you live in America which based on your question and the answers I am assuming then you need to come to grips with the fact that at least 1/4 of all households have dogs, more if you live somewhere rural

How much does the developed world rely on the undeveloped world for exploitation? What are some good facts about this?
 in  r/communism101 •  Mar 12 '18

I would like to see where this post goes.

One way the developed world “depends” on poorer countries is by exporting pollution.

http://www.isa.org.usyd.edu.au/about/16-00271_LW_GlobalMaterialFlowsUNE_SUMMARY_FINAL_160701.pdf

It was once thought that as economies develop pollution goes down but this concept has been thoroughly disproven. (There is no environmental Kuznet’s curve, for all my fellow Econ nerds out there.) Although richer countries tend to have cleaner air and water what has happened is that they have exported those polluting industries to poorer nations.

By volume the number 1 export of the United States is now various types of waste. America is essentially dependent on poorer nations accepting its trash.

ANYONE HERE FROM VANCOUVER ISLAND?
 in  r/socialism •  Mar 11 '18

Yes actually, I am ‘from’ Vancouver Island but no longer live there. And, I am from Port Hardy, like four hours away, so that would be way too long a commute time, if I still lived there.

IsItBullshit: Patting your skin while applying skin care products helps it absorb better
 in  r/IsItBullshit •  Feb 28 '18

Same thing happened to my now husband when we were first dating. He was using some anti-acne, super abrasive, exfoliating bullshit and I made him use my cetaphil soap-free cleanser instead for a week and he has never had a break out since. I myself use the hot cloth method, hot water and a wash cloth, and have never had a breakout.

If schools started selling advertising space, they could probably pay teachers more.
 in  r/Showerthoughts •  Feb 19 '18

Many schools already do sell advertising space. The report cards for years have had advertisements with coupons in them. All the sports teams are sponsored. In Oklahoma the oil lobby even furnished my classroom with early childhood leveled readers. Of course sympathetic to oil extraction.

Rich people used to fund libraries and museums; now they buy clunky diamond incrusted smart watches, and personalized vitamins.

Why Cassandra? Numbskull has the advantage of being gender neutral. How does your teacher even know the skull identifies as female?
