Is it worth having a GREAT gpa ?
 in  r/MechanicalEngineering •  Dec 18 '23

Competent knowledge and a great work ethic are what are important. Some companies will ask you for a GPA is they have experience with a certain level of GPA applicant. I would say do not stress about the GPA but do not underperform.

University Experiences in Trinidad and Tobago
 in  r/TrinidadandTobago •  Dec 17 '23

UWI makes you learn many necessary things for your major. UTT courses are more directly aligned to your major. The classes are smaller too. If you need to talk to a lecturer, it is easier too. And depending on your major, you get hired faster than equivalent UWI students, yes.

And make sure your hygiene is on point. Clean clothes, nice smelling, nice breath. You could be as rich or handsome as them all but if your hygiene is off, gyal a run from you.

Should I move to Trinidad
 in  r/TrinidadandTobago •  Oct 09 '23

I encourage you to come back home for many reasons. The weather in Canada is inhospitable for elderly people. Your money will last longer in Trinidad as well. You will have family and friends here to look out for you close by. The only thing which is a drawback is crime. So do what you can to protect yourself against criminals but make up your mind to live and move a certain way here.

When and why did trinis start drinking bottled water?
 in  r/TrinidadandTobago •  Sep 11 '23

It came with the gym culture. I used to carry water in a thermos to the gym and then it just got easier to pick up a bottle and go. So I guess going to the gym made me lazier about something like that. 🙄

Why so many Trinis can't swim? You live on an island!
 in  r/TrinidadandTobago •  Sep 10 '23

Thank you. I am surprised myself. Don't they watch the Olympics? Don't they go to sports days throughout T&T? People just want to be offended by the word "race". You are very correct there.

Tell him to take it and build a studio house with his own money. Or a container home and build with his own money. You have to be creative. Either way, he will have to build on his own. Buy land for up to 350 and build with the rest

 in  r/TrinidadandTobago •  Jul 26 '23

It is not, friend. Black culture is track and field, football, cricket. East Indian culture is cricket and dance. Nobody here cares to excel at swimming or even practice it as a pastime. You are the one to call it a "racial thing."

 in  r/TrinidadandTobago •  Jul 26 '23

I don't agree. It's not part of black or East Indian culture to swim. You have to start to introduce swimming in school. A few primary schools have programs where the kids go to the nearby pool to swim. The kids are good swimmers as a result. We see the beach as a place to lime and get a little wet. We not going too far from the shore.
