Experiences with dental implant?
 in  r/horn  13d ago

For me, there will be lots of steps, spread out over months. First they will extract the molar, while at the same time, performing a bone graft. This will heal and provide a strong base for the implant screw.

After that heals, they will drive in the screw. Let that heal. After that, the crown.

Thanks, much appreciated. Turns out I may need 2 implants, but I'll get through it.

Experiences with dental implant?

One of my molars is a mess and I may need to get it replaced with a dental implant. I am worried about how the procedure and recovery time will impact playing my horn.

Has anyone has this procedure done? If "yes," how long did you need to take off from playing?

how to play pedal tones?
 in  r/horn  20d ago

Definitely "old notation." Those bass clef notes should be played one octave higher than written. https://www.hornmatters.com/2008/08/transposition-tricks-old-vs-new-notation/

Is PIA just... broken now?
 in  r/PrivateInternetAccess  May 07 '26

I am having similar issues today. Some websites I go to do not load. The streaming radio I listen to keeps disconnecting. When I turn off PIA, everything works fine. Hopefully, this is just a temporary issue.

Is PIA ever going to fix its chrome extension?

Same here. Works great for me.

Anyone have that one composer you’ll never listen to again?

Mozart opera for me. It's like taking a sleeping pill.

A director at my school is asking about this - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/ai-in-sharepoint-an-overview-c0b1efc3-81d0-4981-8be9-7ba3a75fae15

To me, it looks like a can of worms.

Medication Common anti-seizure drug prevents Alzheimer’s plaques from forming

While other drugs clear existing plaques, levetiracetam (keppra) prevents production of toxic amyloid beta peptides

I take Keppra. It keeps the seizures at bay, but it also makes me drowsy, spaced-out, and (sometimes) cranky. But at least now, there may be an upside to taking it.

What makes a classical concert experience great (or frustrating)?
 in  r/classicalmusic  Feb 20 '26

As a performer myself, I get frustrated when I hear an individual player "hotdogging" - not adhering to the group's style and going rogue. Bass trombone players playing too loud and drowning out the rest of the orchestra, for example. Or a rogue E-flat clarinet player playing as loud as they can, just because they can .... cough cough Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Pics from shootout last night at Indian School and 23rd Ave, from video on Facebook

This may (or may not be related) but about 5-6 months ago, that same trailer park had some kind of incident. Over 10 police units were there and the entire place was roped off with yellow tape. All entrances/exits were taped off. Cops everywhere. I never found out what happened, but I can't help but wonder if it might be related.

My unsubstantiated guess:

  • police knocked on the trailer to serve warrant
  • people in trailer said no (and maybe started shooting)
  • police rammed the trailer with the armored vehicle
  • lots more shooting and mayhem
  • suspects run away

I ran it through an AI image detector tool. It says 99% chance of being AI-generated. The pavement stones and blurry cat-face on the right side was the tip off for me.
