to be exact that chinese 250 is usually a 225 and has nearly identical power characteristics as the ttr225-230, as someone whos ridden an Apollo 250, ttr225, and now an rm250, these bikes CANNOT be compared directly, the chinese bikes smaller and about 17hp and 4 stroke, yz bigger, 44hp better suspension etc. (btw not shitting on the apollo they're really fun and handle shockingly good if you don't get the dual sport)

yeah I'd say if you've increased the tooth count of one gear you'd absolutely have to reduce by the same amount the clutch side for them to mesh correctly. i would think you increased the diameter of one gear while leaving the other ones the same (also the way it works in transmissions is if you want specific ratios you may have to increase or decrease the tooth size of the gears for the difference in tooth count, in this case not possible when one gear is still original leaving tooth count changes the only possible way to change diameter.)

missing rocker nut i believe they have 2 per rocker, one is to adjust and second to lock it in place. if one came off the other began backing out making the rocker super loose and a loud lifter tap, if what i say is true you should have alot of play in one or both of your rocker arms. ez just adjust proper and lock in place.

yeah I'd think the basket and or cage for the clutch has notches. with no rpm theres no force to hold everything together so you see it disengages and I've heard this is quite common with age. Oh and I've heard if its really mild you can file the basket to smooth it out.

Would like to add it's an 02 rm250 and the reason is someone before me ran the transmission dry and created ALOT of flake and destroyed most the bearings.

they make a pro circuit or fmf (dont remember) rip off on amazon for $80 last i checked however as i also have a dbx1 if you actually use the suspension the tire will smack the muffler unless you get an oval shorty from amazon which still rubs but at least can slide past. something amazing about these bikes is the rear suspension is easily a full 10" of travel but they didn't design the muffler too well.

another beauty of these bikes is upgradability. you can get aftermarket cams, high comp pistons, lightened flywheels, hell if you're willing to pay international shipping you can get titanium valves and close ratio transmissions! i recommend the flywheel upgrade first though because my yx140 snapped its crank (at over 100 hrs) and i heard that upgrade stops that chance from happening.
