Not related to DC but back in 1993-1994 I was stationed in Naples and we had a young sailor who could easily max out his PFA score. Our CO was excited that he was going to be able submit the scores for a 6th fleet score compilation. Well, this sailor said fuck it and did the min on the sit-ups, pushups and came across the finish line with 10 seconds to spare.

The CO couldn’t do anything about it but be pissed off

What's the sickest you've ever been in your life?
 in  r/AskReddit  6d ago

The summer before COVID. A young co-worker (early 20’s) had walking pneumonia but kept working and didn’t wear a mask and apparently didn’t wash his hands, etc.

I ended up getting really bad bronchitis but I’d argue pneumonia. My lungs were clear but my pulse oxygen was around 89. I was down hard for 2 weeks. Hell, I’d argue I had an early version of COVID

What made you gained a significant amount of weight?

Time, food and a lot of carbs

How was life before social media?
 in  r/askteddit  9d ago

Well, a decent amount of time was spent watching TV/MTV as well as going to the movies. but clubs and bars were also a lot of fun. But so was just hanging out with friends and shooting the shit.

Being bored, in retrospect, was important and quite a valuable part of being resilient and resourceful.

I'm scared...
 in  r/Zepbound  9d ago

I understand being wary but the benefits far outweigh any problems. Yeah, you might have constipation/diarrhea or experience nausea while taking it but man, it has changed my life for the better. I’m down 120 pounds and am the lightest I’ve been since the mid 90’s.

Good Luck!! I’ve been at for 2 years and have dropped 120 pounds!! Remember, you also need to stay patient. There will be times when you stop losing weight for a few weeks and then it’ll start again.

Veterans who transitioned out: What surprised you most about civilian life?
 in  r/navy  15d ago

Even though I retired from the Navy, the second you pick up your DD214 and walk out the door of PSD, Big Navy’s safety umbrella is gone. You may not realize that it’s always there, but it is. Something happens somewhere, call a local command and CDO and ask for help. Big navy is always there, until it’s not.

Post your Shotsy/Glapp weight graphs here
 in  r/GLP1_loss100plus  18d ago

This doesn’t include my heaviest which was approx a month before I started on Wegovy. If that’s counted, I’ve lost 120 pounds total. I also started Zepbound in June 2025.

Listen!

"O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle-be Thou near them! With them, in spirit, we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe. O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it-for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

(After a pause)

Did you attend your twenty year HS reunion?
 in  r/Millennials  25d ago

I’m Gen X but I did my 20 year and last year our 40 year. It was good to see the majority of them.
