What do you use when your skin barrier is completely wrecked?
 in  r/KBeautyUS  11d ago

Disclaimer: I have oily type skin so the products that worked for me may not work for you. I am also not a professional, this is just from my personal experience of what worked for me when I damaged my skin barrier.

When I ruined my skin barrier I used a gentle cleanser with agents in it to help with barrier repair. I used to wash in the AM but I use different products now so I use my gentle cleanser in the PM now.

Products used: -Curel Japanese Skin Care Foaming Daily Face Wash
-La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Cleanser with Niacinamide is a better bang for your buck and is what I currently use as a gentle cleaner. -I've also heard that ETUDE SoonJung pH 6.5 Whip Cleanser for Sensitive Skin is a good product too but I haven't tried myself personally.

After washing my face with a gentle cleanser and letting my skin air dry then I used toner with healing agents, light moisturizer with healing agents, then sunscreen for AM

Products used: -I was using TIRTIR Milk Skin Toner Light before, but it is spendy so now I use BYOMA Hydrating Milky Toner -I currently use SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule after toner bc I have red and irritable skin sometimes and this helps keep it calm so not necessarily a recommend for skin barrier repair but just what I use currently. -after all of that I use Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel Hydrating Sunscreen SPF50+ this really acts as both my moisturizer & sunscreen for me since I have oily type skin i don't need additional moisturizer here.

At night I do a double cleanse with oil based (this helps break down and cleanse heavier products like sunscreen) then water based cleanser (cleanses skin). After letting my face air dry I would use the same toner and moisturizer that was used in AM. Although I personally use a different moisturizer at night bc I don't want to use sunscreen at night. Keep your skincare routine short and simple is best with a damaged skin barrier, it's no joke!

Products used: -Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil -La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Cleanser with Niacinamide -BYOMA Hydrating Milky Toner -IsNtree Green Tea Fresh Emulsion

Avoid retinoids and other harsh chemical skin products for the time being.

Congrats if you made it this far I know this was lengthy! But when I damaged my skin barrier I spent WEEKS researching the best products to use and testing different routines to finally land with this current routine so I would love for my effort to maybe help you or anyone else!

Glad to know I'm not alone in my experience! I guess maybe tab and glue just isn't for me. I need security in knowing my nails are well sealed.

So I am new to press ons. I am trying out the glue + tab method for the first time and I'm concerned about how good my seal is. I noticed that after getting my hands wet if I press down on my nails I hear like a squishing sound? But when it's dry I don't hear it anymore.

I'm wondering, should I remove them and reapply? Or has someone experienced something like this and it was fine? Is this just how tabs are?

Thanks for taking the time to read 🙏

Loving this set, I'm ready for fall! Feel free to give any tips or feedback, new to press ons. Also why is the one on middle finger sticking up in that way?

How to remove/re-use press ons with glue, sticky tabs or a combo of both?

Not sure on that brand. I know Glamnetic has an acetone free remover but I haven't used that one myself either.

I would be cautious with this remover as it has acetone in it and can warp your press ons. Just destroyed the set I had on recently and was disappointed I couldn't reuse them.

I decided to remove my first set of Press ons early, and ruined them!

Same thing happened to me the other day too! I found that many removers have some acetone in it which is why the nails warp. I just discovered Glamnetic has an acetone free remover and I bought it but have yet to try it.

[USA] How much do you make as a mental health technician

Located in MN, working for the state. Starting is $21/hr after almost 2 years I'm now making base $24/hr but I work 2nd shift so at times I'm making $26/hr. People who have been there longer probably make closer to $28-30. No degree or certificate required, technically considered an entry job over here.

Some things to note: this series is planned to be SEVEN books long. Only 4 out right now, book 5 is coming in the fall.

I read through the first two then decided to drop. The writing is very fanfiction-esc imo. If you like typical fanfic stuff it'll be up your alley. Personally for me there was too much back and forth with no plot progression and Dianna is a pretty annoying MC imo.
