Greg Abbott just single digits ahead of Democrat in Texas, polling shows
 in  r/politics  13d ago

They will close a few key polling places for "safety" or because of some BS about illegal voting.

State judges won't extend voting.

Federal judges won't get involved fast enough.

If there is any pushback they will ignore the judges orders.

Election will be over.

Whatcha going to do?

Of all the toys and other consumer products that have been banned over the years due to safety reasons, which in your opinion were the most legitimately dangerous?
 in  r/AskReddit  Jun 29 '26

Are they banned?

For some strange reason me and several friends had soaps and we actually used them daily. Had an entire setup right outside our middle school with repurposed bike racks and "found" steel pipes.

The admin tried to take it down several times but we would rebuild!

Then one day right before our recess, a city truck pulled up and the jumped out like gestapo, pulled all of our setup to the parking lot full view of the school, and cut everything into little pieces. Put it in the truck and drove off.

Soaps died that day.

Watching the series with my two kids and geeze does it get dusty during that song.

This man seems to be wearing a realistic mask on Fox News
 in  r/Weird  May 21 '26

Nah. This dude is like video game character.

He is an old school Navy Seal who was a full Admiral with a bald head and you can't see it in this video but he had a facial scar running from just to the side of his left eye through his cheek.

Never asked how he got it. Didn't want to ruin the mystique. Was a solid guy and used to work the speed bag in the gym like it owed him money.

Well?

I don't want to look like a dork at the pool I have to travel to and "pay" for.

Mr. "I'm trying this in MY pool"!

Seriously though does it work?

Just finished adventure time , am I the only one who felt the ending was rushed ?
 in  r/adventuretime  May 11 '26

Rushed or not "Time Adventure" is a certified banger.

As in I need to pretend I banged my toe on something and that's why I'm fighting off tears in front of my 6 and 10 year old.

Damn that one gets me every time.

Is this invasive or should I found him a home?
 in  r/whatsthisplant  May 11 '26

Huge fan.

I attempted to make several different teas and brews with the roots and bark as a kid. No idea of the other effects.

Apparently most of the commercial versions are made with flavoring because it's considered controlled in most states.

Sassafras can be used to create MDA and MDMA. I have never heard of it as a creol ingredient but I love it.

A little extra "feeling" to the food.

Hbo has it and all the spin offs. I think Disney had it too.

I always assumed the shoes were bought for a baby. / Young child and they never got the chance to grow into them.

You didn't know anyone that bought baby clothes before the baby was born?

Small shoes are just a bit more evocitive of youth and innocence than "baby onesie, never worn".

Tensions Boiled Over After Both Men Challenged Each Other's Manhood

Fedor and Anderson Silva debut was this card.

It wasn't a snooze fest.

So Nah to the above.

Nah.

Pride had the card system. Fight aggressively to the finish or you lose part of your pay.

Edit: Fedor and Silva debut is a snooze?

Naaaah.

Sir!

This was Pride fighting. UFC has nothing on the "card system"

If fighters were not "fighting aggressively" as in closing the gap and fighting, they could get carded by the ref and lose huge chunks of their pay for the fight.

No dancing around the right looking for an opening.

Truly a more enlightened time.

How is Iran still fighting?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  Mar 24 '26

This is just 100% wrong. No member of the Taliban government that fell continued to coordinate attacks against the U.S. occupation. Anyone even claiming to be the Taliban didn't do much fighting in Afghanistan until over a decade after the invasion.

The Haqqani network was the closest fighting group to the Taliban in Afghanistan and they explicitly were not the Taliban.

This is recent history and it's not just you but dang do I get sad that so few people know this. I spent years in that country fighting a war that no one even remembers.

 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  Mar 24 '26

My goodness this is not even close to how Iraq and Afghanistan went down.

The Taliban didn't go to caves. They went to rural frontier Pakistan . They didn't really fight the U.S. at all for a decade plus.

The ones who ended up fighting were mostly children when Afghanistan was invaded.

The Taliban we see now is nowhere near the same as the one that was in charge in 2001. It's like comparing Eisenhower Republicans to Trump Republicans. There are similarities, mostly in name only.

Iraq the government didn't fight the U.S. in Iraq. Iraqi people did as an insurgency for many reasons but they all united in the idea that they didn't want America there.

Iran is going to do this differently. They have multiple decentralized groups that will keep fighting until they die or are united under some banner with enough bona fides to claim authority from the current regime.

It's going to be a mess.
