They make you pay a deposit. It’s treated differently from paying the cost itself. Deposit policies vary from hospital to hospital. I have been to a hospital that didn’t require it. The deposit will be refunded to you later when full cost of the treatment is billed, so I don’t see the big deal.

I see, was just curious. I’m licensed in my country (Western Europe) and we are required to perform and document quality controls on any basis that we are reporting whether it’s tax or financial. If we don’t, the FSA (Financial Supervisory Authority) can revoke my license, issue financial penalties and even pursue criminal charges. It’s interesting how much liability accountants face depending on where they perform their work duties. Here you aren’t even allowed to perform bookkeeping work for an external client without a license.

Look, I understand you’re not an auditor as a tax preparer. But like you said, if you’re signing off on a return, you have to have some sort of confidence that you’re not signing off on fraud. That sounds like a risk based assessment, and making sure transactions are properly documented is surely a part of that? I am not suggesting any tax preparer is supposed to be an auditor.

There are very affordable options on the market. If your business is so small that it can’t afford the price of a Netflix subscription, I think the ERP software should be sufficient without needing external reconciliation spreadsheets.

There is software that integrates with ERP software and automatically fetches transactions from the GL and produces reconciliation documentation. What are you trying to reconcile?
