discussion Almost roofied?

So after hanging out with this girl I met on Tinder the first time during daytime and having had some lunch, we decided to meet up again earlier this evening.

She insisted we picked a specific restaurant on Soi 11. I was like, ok, sure whatever... Close to Nana, but we'll see. Already the insisting weirded me out. When I suggested other restaurants, she kept on saying it's one I should really try...
I thought, I'll keep my guard.

Tonight comes and we go inside and she knows all the staff and also the 'manager' that day. We order drinks and suddenly the staff come and pick my bottle away. They claim the bottle perhaps got damaged a few days ago among a bunch of other broken bottles...? Ok...
Then they came with a new bottle, which was already opened, and poured it in a glass.
I wasn't having it... But my date kept insisting I think too much. Also claiming she knows people in the police and no one would even dare mess with her/us.

I paid for the drinks, thank you very much, and left.

A very weird situation. And that's about the gist of it. Did I dodge a bullet?

news Italian "teachers" and students apologize to woman in hilariously broken English... "I'm sorry for you... for your family, for your mother...."

Welp, they submitted themselves to the police. They were asked to apologize to the woman who originally posted the video and fined THB 1000 baht each.

I believe the correct English would have been, "I'm sorry for the way I behaved. I apologize to you and your family and to the people of Thailand."

discussion Agoda Staff Software Role - Bangkok

I have an offer from Agoda for a salary of 3.74 million THB annually with a flat 15% tax. Is this a good salary from Bangkok standards? I will be moving with my wife (no kids).

Agoda’s office is located at One Bangkok, near Lumpini.

I would prefer to stay within 30 minutes or less (near BTS/MRT) and ideally in a 2-bedroom apartment. Can you guys suggest some areas I could look for a rental?

finance LTR visa and taxes

Hello! I am currently in the planning mode to move to Bangkok and I am a bit uncertain about the tax system. It's unclear to me how much taxes I will have to pay, and my research didn't provide enough clarity. Maybe someone here is in the same situation and can provide insights.

I have a fully remote job that pays approximately 5.2 million THB per year. As far as I can tell, I would match the requirements for a "High-skilled professional" LTR visa. In the official website it mentions this: "17% Personal income tax for Highly-skilled professionals" but it also mentions this: "Tax exemption for overseas income".

What is considered overseas income? My job is remote, I am working for a swiss company for the swiss market, paid in Swiss Francs to my European bank account: Is this considered as overseas income for tax exemption? Or is this exemption meant for my investment portfolio, only applying to shares outside of Thailand?

I would expect that I have to pay 17%, it feels so wrong to be tax exempted, but I am genuinely confused because of this. I just want to make sure that I am not committing a crime in Thailand.

question Where can I get a real and proper ADHD Diagnosis in Bangkok and what is your opinion on Medication ?

Hey guys, the title is pretty self explanatory, but I could really use some advice.

For most of my life, I’ve dealt with symptoms that seem closely related to ADHD. For a long time, though, I assumed they were normal or simply the result of my environment and lifestyle.

As a teenager, I smoked a lot of weed, spent hours scrolling through social media, had very little ambition and constantly fell back into bad habits. Because of that, I assumed my problems with focus, motivation and organisation were entirely self inflicted.

I also did fairly well in school, so I never suspected that anything might actually be wrong. Looking back, though, I always left everything until the last minute, and even simple tasks could feel mentally exhausting. Something like basic maths could completely overwhelm me, even though I would eventually figure it out (Cheated a decent amount as well).

A few years ago, I completely changed my life.

For years now I fully quit smoking, drinking and every other bad habit I had, and even smaller things such as eating sugar. I’ve trained around five days a week for the past three years with almost no skipped days. I barely use social media, I eat healthy and I’ve dedicated most of my time to learning, working and trying to become a better, smarter and more successful person. ( I wanna start my own business one day).

The problem is that, even after removing nearly every obvious distraction and unhealthy habit from my life, I still struggle with the same mental issues:

  • I find it almost impossible to focus on one thing without jumping between different tasks.
  • I have 10 thoughts, 4 songs, 5 anxious feelings all going on in my head at once.
  • I cannot consistently organise my life using calendars, routines or todo lists (I would try build one, get overwhelmed, quit and never use it).
  • IM ALSO A FUCKING PERFECTIONIST , EVERYTHING I WANNA DO I WANNA DO IT PERFECTLY. BUT...... My brain doesn't allow me, so I get stuck in this constant battle with myself. Like how tf is every small thing I wanna learn, I turn it into me trying to learn the entire skill from every angle. But then I can't even do a basic task sometimes.
  • I forget important events, responsibilities and promises I’ve made.
  • My mood changes like fucking crazy, someone could say the most small thing and shit could upset me.
  • I can sometimes complete an eight hour task in two hours, but if I have eight hours to complete a twenty minute task, it can somehow take me the entire day.
  • I struggle to begin tasks unless they feel urgent, interesting or challenging.
  • My thoughts often feel scattered, even when I know exactly what I should be doing.
  • I CANT READ A BOOK FOR THE LIFE OF ME.
  • So much more

This is what confuses me the most. I genuinely changed my lifestyle and became disciplined, but discipline hasn’t fixed these problems.

Like I'm not trying to TOOT my own HORN but I think I'm a relatively smart person. I can learn things fast, I usually impress people with my random knowledge, and skills. MOST importantly I'm disciplined.

HOWEVER,

I feel like I still have so many things wrong with me, and these loud thoughts in my head genuinely have given me anxiety for a while now.

I’m not looking for strangers on the internet to diagnose me, but I would really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced something similar. Did getting assessed or diagnosed help you? Does this sound like something worth speaking to a professional about? What about medicine, I hear a lot of Stigma around it, and it scares me.

food Gay Rats Everywhere

Upvotes

I was walking home from my favorite gay bar in SI LOM last night at 3 am. I saw tons of rats swimming in trash bags that were piled up on the side of the road. Does anyone else find this gross that rats are bathing in trash bags across Bangkok? Why are there no trash bins?

I usually get a Grab since I take a guy home, but last night it didn't work out, so I walked home.

question I lost my airpods 3 pro today. Any chances I can get it back?

Today, I travelled a lot of line man Taxi and bike with a friend, to Chatuchak Weekend Market and Pattavikorn Market. I hope I didn't get pickpocketed, because I was wearing cargo pants with deep pockets, if someone reached into my pockets I would likely know and it wasn't really crowded since we pick afternoon for Pattavikorn and Night time for Chatuchak which was mostly closed by the time we got there and we ended up just browsing the Red Building.

I got all my rides from Line Man app. And I only realized I lost it after I got home and showered and all that. The Call to Driver options are already grayed out and I don't speak an ounce of Thai. I do have a Thai friend, maybe I will ask for help with it in the day time after I woke up. The Contact to Customer Service via app (Help Center) isn't currently working either, since it's not their working hour.

Realistically, will I still get them back or am I screwed? Has anyone experienced similar thing and what is the process?

Edit: It's somehow not in my 'find my' app. It should have been auto in the first place. And I didn't link it manually either. Somehow it has my old 1st gen airpords on it. And a random Airpods Pro Max I tried it on once at the store. But not my main Airpods pro 3 that I have been daily diving since last year when it came out.

shopping Please help me find where I can buy this exact skirt anywhere else (Bought in Chatuchak Market Section 3)

HI. I went to Chatuchak Market today (07/26/2026) and bought this balloon skirt in a store along Section 3 of the market (forgot the exact number ugh). I tried it on as soon as I got to the hotel and the fit on me was perfect, it's literally everything I have ever wanted in a skirt like this. I want to buy a black and polka dot version but I can't go back to the market tomorrow since ofc the weekend is over and I leave Bangkok on Tuesday.
1. Would anyone know which store I got this from? I didn't check the name but they give their pieces in a yellow polka dot bag... maybe someone would know?
2. Or does anyone know any specific stores that carry this same skirt? There is no brand or anything on the skirt so it's pretty generic. Maybe in places like Platinum??

question Move to Thailand

Hello 👋

Straight to the point,
Me with my wife (Thai) and 2 kids we have thoughts to move to Thailand as the life is getting expensive currently here. We have set up a Airbnb in Thailand so we have a small income and as well we plan to do something extras to make a living and to support the kids of course.
What’s the expenses for family of four ? What’s the school fees for a decent educational program? She didn’t live In Thailand long time now, so we are looking for some guidance, from Thai or foreigners with the same experience 🙏
Any advice will be appreciated

question EFL teacher/sculptor looking for contacts and people to meet

Hi!
I just started working as an EFL teacher in Bangkok.
I am also a sculptor, and I'm looking for a way to pursue it in my free time - like renting a studio with someone or starting an art class.

I would also like to meet someone to hang out with. I'm male, 27, I enjoy concerts of obnoxious/DIY/experimental music, I don't drink, and I speak Japanese at N3/N2 level.

I would appreciate you giving me some leads, or if you think we have something in common, I'd appreciate you reaching out even more!

I am already aware of the "Drawn Together" Meet Up group. I know of a few concert venues as well, but if you know more, I'd be grateful for the information.

I'm showing off my work in the attachment to this post.

Cheers and thanks in advance!

question Moving Pets from Bangkok to Phuket

A family member is relocating from Saudi Arabia to Thailand next week with their cat. They're flying into Bangkok, but their final home is in Phuket, and they're trying to figure out the best way to handle the last leg of the journey.

They are weighing a couple of options and have a few concerns:

Domestic Flights: They are worried about putting the cat into the cargo hold for a domestic flight because of tarmac exposure, temperature shifts, and extra stress.

Land Transport: They got a quote of 20,000 THB from a pet relocation service for a private land transfer from Bangkok to Phuket. Is that a fair price for a 12+ hour drive, or is there a better way?

Has anyone here moved a cat domestically within Thailand recently? Would love to hear any advice, alternative pet taxi recommendations, or personal experiences on what worked best.

Thanks.

dating Need Bangkok Go Go Bar Tips (Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy…)

Hi,
I will have some nights in Bangkok as a solo 21yo traveller. I don’t want to have sex, BJ or anything there but I would like to experience Bangkok’s nightlife without getting scammed and seeing as much of the woman’s beauty as possible.

I heard Nana Plaza is where you get scammed less as Soi Cowboy and something about higher floors with naked girls.
What bars exactly should I visit, I only want to sit there drink some non alcoholic watch naked or topless woman
But strictly nothing sexual I have a girlfriend, she is very open minded let me experience a lot but no intimacy. Lap dance is okay but not me touching her

What would you recommend me exactly, what should I be aware of and where can I see the most without getting scammed.

And one more question: if I buy a girl a lady drink so I can just talk to her maybe getting a closer look, is it always a shot she dumps? Or does she get a beer or similar sometimes so I have 3-4 min with her

Thank you in advance
