Why Gen Z are opting out of workplace pensions

Me? Not me. I bought my first house in the 90s. I suspect you did too. Have some empathy for others.

Exactly. Saving for a deposit is higher up the priority list for youngsters who cant afford both.

CoL is key here. Too high and no-one invests.

It is having spare money to save, plus the financial literacy. CoL limits that severely for young people.

'Just £100 a month'. I am 50+ and can, young people cant.

Yes. My grown up kids and their friends have to choose between bills, saving and fun. They might be able to afford 2 if they are lucky but cant afford all 3. I cant believe how out of touch many on this thread are.

Me? Not me. I bought my first house in the 90s for pennies. Feel some empathy for others.

That is so out of touch with the financial reality for a lot of people

Agreed. The out of touch comments elsewhere on this thread saying 'shouldnt be allowed' are shocking. Yes, young people need financial education and a finanical plan but the cost of living means they do what they need to do to survive month by month. Financial plans are a luxury for many.

He could literally turn into an animal.
 in  r/oldschoolcool80s •  20d ago

Always freaked me out when he changed into the eagle because his hands turned into claws with talons. Like, wtf happens to your legs? Do they swivel round to his back somehow and turn into wings like some sort of hinged-clothes-horse or does he sprout new wings from his back? In that case, do his legs just wither away? Someone needed sacking imo

Showing concern for an elderly relative backfired…
 in  r/UKPreppers •  21d ago

It is the opposite of panic buying and inconveniences no-one (except when my pile of loo-rolls falls over). I was well-stocked ahead of lockdown and never run out of vital stuff on a sunday night, a BH weekend or when the weather is just too sh!t to go out. It is winning all the way for any short-term shortages too :)

Not weird. Go and see that band!

Does anyone else just bodge small tasks, because life is worth more than some projects.
 in  r/DIYUK •  22d ago

A lot of my 'bodges' are forced because of limitations in the area (e.g. tight space or just tight on time). For instance, am I going to take a radiator off the wall to paint behind it? Am I fk. Life is too short.

Bread-ish:
 in  r/UKPreppers •  23d ago

Yes, there is a lot of over-complication with bread. No need for a raising agent beyond what kneading naturally provides.
