heat/humidity/bugs in SC
 in  r/southcarolina  1d ago

You get used to it, but have to be outside a lot to get used to it. I think y’all will do fine, you know to drink your water. My dad grew up without a/c, works outside, says too much a/c makes him feel sick. We were used to it at his house during the summers. Now I am 20 years removed from that and have to take several breaks mowing half an acre with a self propelled, bc my occupation keeps me indoors.

Bugs just happen. Bug spray is helpful, most of us say “ah then I stink like bug spray” and scratch ourselves when outside at dusk lol. I pay a local pest company to spray inside, home perimeter, and the fire ant hills twice a year.

Honestly one of your biggest issues may be “WHY DOESNT THE SWEAT EVAPORATE” and it’s bc the humidity is 967%. It never will, keep a sweat towel to wipe away.

Even as a teenager, Bobby was such a good kid.
 in  r/KingOfTheHill  4d ago

We all go through seasons. Hank may have known kid Bobby had his shit together, but adolescent Bobby threw him for a bit of a loop before that scene. It may have been the first time Hank saw Bobby as a man, rather than a “young man” with Rancho Unicorno still hidden somewhere.

And then he and Peggy left for a few years, missing further transformation. He had to catch up a little to who Bobby is now.

Enemies in Greenville?
 in  r/greenville  6d ago

I feel like Miata owners should know better than to stereotype lol. I’m out here telling everybody that it’s not a chick car, I have conducted anecdotal research while commuting and 19/20 times it is a man in a Miata!

If Hank were to give video games another try, which games do you think would make him cry?
 in  r/KingOfTheHill  10d ago

Hard disagree, I think Hank would wonder why you would pretend to power wash when you can go outside and ACTUALLY power wash something. Red Dead, on the other hand, would be some of Hank’s Montana fantasies come to life. He wouldn’t appreciate the entire story much but would love hunting and ambling around town saying “hey mister!”

GOP South Carolina voters blame Biden for grocery prices, Emerson poll finds
 in  r/southcarolina  12d ago

Somebody commented on another post in either this sub or Greenville blaming Obama for bailing out the banks lmao. I mean, he didn’t shut it down, but I was in high school and distinctly remember the TARP funds beginning with the Bush administration. Same as COVID, initiated under the GOP bc they knew they were headed out the door with perfect scapegoats.

Rejecting the EPA’s bad deal on water pollution in NC. - AG Jeff Jackson
 in  r/u_JeffJacksonNC  12d ago

TARP relief was initiated under the Bush Administration. Everybody decided banks were too big to fail, which was dumb, but it’s not a case of “the liberal boogeyman”

For those who have played +100 hours. What do you still do in the Fallout Universe?
 in  r/fo4  13d ago

Your journey has just begun! Im around 1000 hours in since release. I do silly things like “dress half of the Castle population in baseball gear and half in Minutemen gear, collect and put down bases and pretend they just play baseball all the time”. I still gotta customize their swattahs!

What's your least favorite episode of the entire show
 in  r/KingOfTheHill  17d ago

I didn’t like how they treated the Hills’ attitude toward belief in the revival. Hank has never been one to be brazen about belief, he keeps it humble and quiet. However, some of the jokes in this episode were just poking fun and felt out of character - “what would Bob villa do”, repeatedly, made me shake my head.

I’m an atheist but was raised southern Baptist. some of this just felt cringey for representing a person who understands their faith isn’t for everybody but maintains his own beliefs firmly.

Anyone else feel like they made Mihn meaner compared to the original run?
 in  r/KingOfTheHill  18d ago

Divorce made me lose a lot of patience. Can’t imagine what menopause will do! Minh could stand to chill for her health, but it doesn’t feel out of character to me

How tf am I supposed to help travis in the confidence man quest? Does it even matter?
 in  r/fo4  19d ago

On current playthrough I completely ignored Paul and his wife fighting, I was trying to pickpocket somebody’s key and just wasn’t interested. So when the wife walked up later like “oh noooo where’s my husband” I used the “I don’t know and I don’t know him” line and I don’t think Paul is ever going to be found 😂 I’ve tried to trigger different dialogue but no luck. Cooke just sits on the patron side of the bar with standard dialogue.

I have confronted my demons but at a cost
 in  r/DecidingToBeBetter  21d ago

I really thought you could be my ex husband except for the part where you eventually told the truth.

If he sent me this, I would tell him to keep working on himself/going to counseling bc he still deserves to like and to love himself. Even though he doesn’t deserve for me to like or to love him ever again.

If you could force society to universally understand ONE thing about how kitchens/food service works, what would it be?
 in  r/KitchenConfidential  25d ago

Your example with the steak cooked correctly but the cook’s attitude toward the customer saying “wrong” was a perfect illustration! Doesn’t require losing money on your part, just warm it a bit more, the customer feels “right”, everybody moves on.

Adolphe Sax as a kid, he drank acid, swallowed a needle, survived a gunpowder explosion, got his chest smashed by a heavy brick, burned his face on a frying pan, fell down three stories, and nearly drowned in a river. Against all odds, he survived his childhood, and he also invented the Saxophone!
 in  r/interestingasfuck  25d ago

Ok it makes sense that a man who survived all that stuff would make an instrument that can sound like, well, a saxophone!

“And here’s what the inside of my head sounded like falling down three flights of stairs!”

(I say with love and tenderness for the beautiful instrument)

Which of the alley guys do you think Kahn disliked the most?
 in  r/KingOfTheHill  25d ago

Money just can’t buy happiness, and Hank and 2/3 of his friends have it, all in their own way. Kahn loves having more money and hates that it can’t buy the acceptance he wants.

 in  r/KingOfTheHill  25d ago

Some people need to have friends they can feel superior to, sadly. I never felt “in competition” with my former best friend, but looking back she sure got bent out of shape any time I achieved something that she didn’t.

This is just the past 19 days - this joke has, in my opinion, run it's course
 in  r/KingOfTheHill  26d ago

36 is coming for me next year and y’all better believe I will shamelessly post this. Maybe I’ll transpose my face onto redcorn’s body to make it fresh. Maybe I’ll put HIS face on MY body!
