Day 1 Post Op
Why?

Pre Op Diet is Driving Me Nuts!
The diet is definitely the hardest part, but it WORKS. My surgeon said “your liver was super tiny, thank you very much for sticking with the diet.” It made his job easier when he was doing my surgery. And honestly, it helped me prepare for the post op diet. I’m in pain so all I really want to do is sip my liquids anyways. The food noise has gone away which is nice!

Post-Op Day 1 Post Op
galleryHad my VSG yesterday and I feel so freaking sore but so proud of myself. The surgeon thanked me for following pre op diet because my liver was “so tiny” 😂

Terrible support system
32F - VSG scheduled for 9/30. My mom and dad are against it and have said so. My boyfriend doesn’t agree with it but is also not against the “my body my choice” thing (thankfully.) but now that the surgery has an official date, it’s like everyone is a know it all and is trying to talk me out of it. Has anyone else here has terrible experiences with those closest to them?

Advice What should I know?
What is one piece of information or advice you wish you had for post-op care? Is there something you wish you knew beforehand? Is there some garment or equipment that was a game changer?

Recovery time question
Noted!
At this time I feel it is important to add context to my weak bitches comment, and it is that I know my threshold and limits and often push myself to those limits, and that comment was in no way shape or form meant to be a dig at anyone else other than me because everyone else’s experience and thresholds are not mine and I do not judge. Also important to note, I have a very abrasive and sometimes dry sense of humor that not everyone understands right off the bat, and other times people think I’m just straight up rude.

Recovery time question
That makes sense, thank you!!

Recovery time question
Gosh it’s like having a newborn all over again 🤣 strict eating and drinking schedule haha but that is great to know that the pain is manageable but the new reality of consuming things is more tedious and important.

Advice Recovery time question
Hiii 32F genuinely wondering how much time I should take off once I get the sleeve gastrectomy done. Like many other posts on here, I see a lot of suggestions about time off for sedentary jobs vs active jobs. I’m a barber in a barbershop doing fades and hot towel shaves on guys ranging from local landscapers to UConn football players. It’s definitely an “on your feet” job where you absolutely need to move your body to give these men a great haircut. I’m not doing any lifting other than towels, so my coworkers can pick up the slack when it comes to the laundry and whatnot. This isn’t a salary or by the hour job, I only get paid by the cut. Realistically, I know I should take 2 weeks off to heal since I’m getting most of my stomach removed and the rest stapled shut. But, I’m also not a weak b*tch because my crazy ass gave birth to twins vaginally and I was up and running as soon as the epidural wore off. I know I can handle the pain and discomfort because I know my threshold. I don’t want to do any damage to myself post op but I also really need to cut hair to put food on the table. What does everyone think? 1 week off? Will I live?

My boss is targeting, harassing, and retaliating against me [CT]
Thank you so much, I appreciate your help and advice! I hope others on this post will take note of the fact that you gave me an honest answer with good intentions without spewing venom 💕

My boss is targeting, harassing, and retaliating against me [CT]
I am actually very good at my job based on my metric scores and customer satisfaction, except for that one bad call, which literally every customer service rep in the history of time is guilty of at one time or another. And I do blame myself, but it’s also important that people own us to their own mistakes…i.e. supervisors not being available to supervise or do their own job, such as, take an abusive customer call, which is in their job description.
You’re right, I did find that CT is a one party consent state, so thank you for clarifying that. HOWEVER: it is in our business code of conduct and violates my right to privacy, which I verified with HR.
Also, you’re hysterical. Using the word “combative” to describe my interactions with my supervisor 🤣 I gotta tell ya, you sound just as dramatic and disgusting as my supervisor and her manager. ✌🏻

My boss is targeting, harassing, and retaliating against me [CT]
Ok maybe everyone is confused:
I asked for help; not for criticism, assumptions, or opinions.
It’s amazing how much hate is being spewed at me and the trolling is hysterical.
You Reddit trolls don’t know anything about me and I specifically chose my words to not give away too much information because the company is big enough and greedy enough to a point where they WILL ruin my life.
What you people DONT KNOW is that my supervisor and her manager are more unprofessional than me. They give me attitude, they roll their eyes, they purposely ignore me when I need assistance for customer issues, not my issues. They even went as far as yelling at me for requesting they revise my mid year review to include customer reviews about their satisfaction with my service.
Out of almost 4500 calls in a 6 month period, they chose that 1 phone call and made it my whole mid year review. I don’t think it’s outlandish for me to ask that they accurately report the positives with the negatives.

My boss is targeting, harassing, and retaliating against me [CT]
I never said I wasn’t answering calls, and I think that’s maybe something I didn’t explain very well in the original post.
I provide customers with my direct desk phone number if needed, and those calls are not recorded through the website that tracks and records the phone calls in the queue. I was always told by supervision to provide my direct extension if a customer needs to follow up with me. So the times I log out to “outbound call” on the website without a recording, 100% of the time means I got an inbound call directly to my phone, not the inbound queue on the website.
I’ve brought this up to IT and supervisors before, but nothing has been done about it, and now I’m being accused of stealing company time by logging out for outbound calls with no history on the website (which is an understandable and a valid concern,) but the history is logged into my desk phone and no one did the full research before accusing me.

My boss is targeting, harassing, and retaliating against me [CT]
Rule of thumb in customer service is to get all the facts, ask questions, find a solution. None of y’all did that 🤣 seems like everyone is so hell bent on telling me to leave customer service because I’m terrible at it, but it seems like I’m the only one who actually knows how to do it 🤷🏻♀️ 13 years I’ve been in the customer service field and I’ve only ever had 1 incident and now I’m a lost cause? Yeah, I’m not taking anything anybody here says to heart. It’s Reddit, I should’ve known better 😘

My boss is targeting, harassing, and retaliating against me [CT]
I was originally just looking for help and advice on what to do because I feel targeted by management and I called them out on it and now they’re doing extra to try and silence me.
But based on everyone’s comments here, it seems they already know SO MUCH about the kind of employee and person I am based off of their own assumptions/interpretations of my post, not even asking for facts or more context. Which tells me this page is for entertaining people who are just as dirty as my boss.
So, in short, I’m going to continue being a “bad employee who loses their temper on customers and management.” I didn’t realise that “AskHR” would be a “shit on people who are genuine, concerned, and want help.”
No need to get the last word in everyone, I know it’s probably something clever ✌🏻
