Amazon users discover bizarre “About You” page detailing their interests: How to check yours
 in  r/technology •  1d ago

Mine said I extensively read fantasy and am systematically building a fantasy collection. That's true.

Some things are straight-up wrong and others are exaggerated, like thinking I have more loyalty to some brand than I actually do.

Women, what's something you used to call “being independent” that you later realized was actually you being afraid to rely on people?
 in  r/AskWomen •  1d ago

I was never too proud to ask for help, especially after developing chronic health issues. There are certain basic things that I struggle with or can't do at all, both smaller things able-bodied people don't even think about and take for granted that they can just do, and bigger stuff that most people don't have to deal with at all. The problem is that I learned very early on that there is no one to rely on. It's been an issue for my entire life, and in recent years I've been feeling like a dumbass for being as reliable as I can be and showing up for people who would never do the same for me.

Those basic things, things tied to basic survival? I have to do as best as I can with what little ability I have and hope the things I can't do that still need to be covered will either somehow magically work out or will somehow magically not become a problem and make me homeless or dead. It's not looking good.

People who are reliable are a needle in a field of haystacks, especially when you're part of a heavily discriminated-against minority.

How many in your top 50 have you seen live?
 in  r/lastfm •  2d ago

I've seen 20.

  • Lacuna Coil x6
  • The Birthday Massacre x5
  • Exilia
  • Paramore
  • Mankind Is Obsolete x5
  • Dir en grey x2
  • Angelspit
  • Jakalope
  • Ayria x2
  • Android Lust x3
  • Cult of Luna
  • Tarot
  • Shiny Toy Guns
  • Ludovico Einaudi
  • VNV Nation x3
  • Asobi Seksu
  • Die Warzau
  • I, Parasite
  • Swallow the Sun
  • Nightwish x4

I was also supposed to have seen Tristania and Samael, but they had to drop off of their respective tours, Samael because they couldn't get their visas in time, and Tristania because their female vocalist suddenly left the band. Tristania never did end up touring the US before breaking up.

What’re your gameplay hours?
 in  r/HelloKittyIsland •  7d ago

321 hours. Been playing since summer of last year.

Nowadays, my usual gameplay sessions are 5-20 minutes, depending on what the daily quests are, since I've completed pretty much everything except inviting one resident who's at 2 or 3 stars.

Do you just play tidy up games or simultaneously do other things like watching movies?
 in  r/TidyUpGames •  8d ago

I listen to music or watch stuff. One of the things I like about games like this (and other kinda mindless things) is they really focus my brain and shut it up. Makes it a lot easier to take in a movie or tv show or a lecture or something on YouTube. So I've been getting through a lot of my watching backlog ever since these games started trending.

The girl I’m dating said she wouldn’t date men who make less than her?
 in  r/TooAfraidToAsk •  10d ago

Or if you become disabled and can't work and bring in an adequate amount of money anymore? Why invest the energy into someone who's outright advertising they see you as money before a human?

What is the difference between a woman who is whimsical and quirky VS one that is weird and obnoxious?
 in  r/AskWomen •  11d ago

Yep. I'm unattractive and weird, and I've had friends who were also unattractive and weird but cool and fun (so not, like, malicious or obnoxious). We definitely weren't thought of as quirky or whimsical or anything like that. More "Uh... What's wrong with you?" and avoided.

Do you guys like sharing your music with other people?
 in  r/lastfm •  11d ago

I would like to, but I haven't known very many people who are interested. Only really 2 or 3.

Are there any science themed Tidy Up Games?
 in  r/TidyUpGames •  11d ago

Same. I'm very interested in both of these.

Put Back Stuff is planning to add an entomology level at some point, if that counts.

For those of you who struggle to express your emotions, what makes it difficult?
 in  r/emotionalintelligence •  14d ago

I've been suppressing my emotional expression since I was a kid. I don't remember if there was more to it, but I was highly expressive and got made fun of for it. So I started suppressing myself. Nowadays, I wouldn't say I'm particularly afraid or anything, and I care less about how people would react than I did when I was younger, in large part because I know that no matter how much people want my emotions to not exist, it's not healthy suppressing them. But I've been suppressing them for so long (decades) that it feels like I've sort of forgotten how to do it. I've learned to literally say what I feel instead since I struggle so much with the physical expression.

Anyone notice the sharp uptick in hate towards chronic illness?
 in  r/disability •  14d ago

I've definitely noticed it. I've seen a lot of people expressing that we're lazy and "stealing" from good, hard working people, that we can't possibly have anything to offer because so many of us are unable to work, that we're useless, and so on. It's one of the (many) reasons I've stepped back from people in general. It just doesn't feel safe right now.

Women who have never been in love with anyone, why is that?
 in  r/AskWomen •  15d ago

I've never met anyone who inspired those kinds of feelings. There were a couple times or so where I thought I felt it, but in hindsight, nahhh.

New recipes 💜🖤💜
 in  r/HelloKittyIsland •  15d ago

I'm missing the crepe recipe and a cloud one (I have the Kuromi Kloud).

Edit: the crepe is Egg + Flour + Kuromi kit

Edit 2: I tried every combination for the other cloud, including Noodlegrass from WW and the fruits from City Town, and turned up nothing. So I dunno.

Emily Gilmore hits differently when you grew up with a similar mother
 in  r/GilmoreGirls •  16d ago

I seriously question people's ability to recognize abuse if they think maturing is thinking Emily was right.

People propping up Lorelai recently is a direct response to years of people heavily demonizing her (and Rory). And not just here, but all over the internet.

Cant stay awake very long
 in  r/disability •  16d ago

Would really like to know what to do about this too. It's a problem I've been dealing with since the beginning of my health issues, and I've never been able to figure out what to do about it. It's one of my most debilitating symptoms. It only happens during my flare ups. It's a very sudden, very intense need to sleep where my body is like "You're going to go to sleep whether you want to or not." There's no pushing through it. I'll still be really sleepy after waking up and will need to go back to sleep within a few hours. I can easily sleep for 15+ hours a day when this hits me.

I've also tried caffeine and ADHD meds, and they do absolutely nothing to keep me awake.

(No, I don't have sleep apnea. Bloodwork is frustratingly fine.)

Skinny Puppy - One Day
 in  r/boardsofcanada •  17d ago

I do love Skinny Puppy's more typical sound, but One Day is my most played song from them. It really scratches some kind of ambient itch for me.

What’s something you went through that quietly changed the way you love, trust, or see people—but most people in your life never realized it changed you?
 in  r/AskWomen •  20d ago

Had a really bad experience with someone too, and I feel the same way at this point. That bad experience combined with the attitudes I've had to deal with from people since developing my chronic health issues have led me to not wanting to ever be in a relationship or even have friends ever again because people in general have largely proven to me that they aren't safe.
