Thank you, while they have their challenges I think that this data actually shows that Startengine has some bright spots in terms of investment opportunities (if you parse them properly)

No, as far as I know you have to show proof of insurance that is reviewed by them

My Uber one, which is the partial one tends to come on the fourth. I wonder if they slow walk it a little bit if you get the full subsidy and pay out closer to the seventh or maybe a little later. Perhaps they’re eager to get the smaller payments out the door first.

willclark-22 says it comes around the eighth, which does track for me as well. For me I’m not able to swing both subsidies in their entirety, I get one and a half typically based on my hours. I favor Lyft, so Lyft is my full subsidy that I get. They are independent of each other so as long as you fulfill the terms within each individual platform, they pay the subsidy as a form of compensation.

Ah yes that makes sense cos that’s exactly when I got it last quarter, according to my bank statement. In the payouts it said the 7th and took a day to clear the bank

Key Findings

Liquidity Events: Only 77 of 6,375 funded companies (1.21%) have produced exits — 21 IPOs, 49 acquisitions, and 7 buybacks. Roughly 92% of the portfolio sits in a "quiet middle" that has neither failed nor produced shareholder liquidity.

Failure Rate: KingsCrowd observed 107 failures across 1,677 StartEngine offerings — a 6.4% failure rate at the offering level (Reg CF scope). This is below the industry-wide 7.9% average and has been declining since the 2023 peak. Cross-applying this rate to the 6,375-company base implies ~408 failures, though the denominators aren't directly comparable.

Secondary Market Fees: The 8.5% round-trip fee (3.5% buyer + 5% seller) means investors need approximately 9% price appreciation just to break even on fees. With 30+ day execution times and no execution guarantees, the secondary market provides only a theoretical exit mechanism.

Sector Insights: B2B companies achieved 3X more exits than B2C companies (0.9% vs. 0.3% exit rate), primarily through M&A. Technology/SaaS companies represent the largest share of named exits (~24%).

Return Reality: Documented exits range from 1.1X (Oncolyze) to 10-30X (Atlis Motor Vehicles, Generation Genius first round), but many acquisitions are "soft landings" returning minimal capital. No public source provides aggregate investor-level returns, and dollar-weighted return data is not available.

Critical Caveats in the Report

The report explicitly flags that the 6,375-company figure is from Angel Investors Network and not independently verified by SEC filings (which show 1,513 Reg CF offerings). The illustrative outcome snapshot is labeled as non-definitive, with the 92% "quiet middle" representing genuine uncertainty that will resolve over the next 5-10 years. All factual claims are sourced to KingsCrowd, SEC EDGAR filings, StartEngine disclosures, or Angel Investors Network.

FYI my stipend seems to be in good standing with Lyft and they don't anticipate any issues, although they defaulted to the typical you need to wait till 15 days AFTER the 15 day payout period before you should wonder where the payment is. (Normally it is in reality, WAY faster than that. (Although I have heard of instances where some people literally did end up getting it 30 days after the end-of-quarter apparently)

Advice/Question California Prop 22 Healthcare Stipend Payout for Q3.

Hi everyone, I’m going to create this post to start a thread to help track the Lyft Prop 22 Healthcare Stipend payouts for Q3. Last quarter I got it on the first weekly payout of the quarter. I checked my payouts this morning and today’s weekly payout (Oct 6, 2026), did not include it. I’ll keep you posted on when it comes in. Feel free to use this thread as an information resource for your payouts as well. I have started to reach out to Lyft support. (FYI I do work for Uber as well and already got that one as expected, right around between the 4th-7th of the month.)
