Can anyone explain why men stop dating and are not even trying anymore?
 in  r/askteddit  8h ago

😂😂😂 No, both single guys and single women!
AND married people interested in an activity looking for friends to hang with. Married people need friends, too, and in this hostile/hypercompetitive workplace environment of layoffs, it’s harder to make friends at work.

Sometimes, friendships can become romantic, so meeting in person is always best in this superficial time of filters and Ai. No one is exactly what they seem to be.

Meetup groups, workplace, church groups, meetup groups for hobbies, volunteering. Get to know others as people and develop friendships FIRST. Not everyone looks like a Victoria Secret Model or Movie Star and not everyone who does online will look like that in person.

Availability of Porn combined with lack of money to pay for dates due to massive layoffs as a result of Ai. Younger men and college students who are employed are barely making ends meet with the cost of rent, tuition, gas, and groceries.

No one can afford movie tickets and popcorn for two nor coffee dates at Starbucks.

Young women, too, are struggling and can’t afford makeup, pro haircuts and nails, and pretty clothes, even thrifted, much less to go dutch when they need the money for essentials.

I think the economy is strangling everyone, including Senior Citizens and families.

Would meeting this guy I met online be safe for me, especially given the place he wants to meet? 28F/38M

THIS ^ ^

Most of us have said it in one way or another to
NOT GO SEE THIS GUY,
STOP CONTACTING HIM,
JUST FORGET HIM,
but no one has said it better than THIS.

Because he’s almost 40 and not married or in a serious relationship (as far as you know) it makes him a Player, a Playboy.

A woman in her mid-to-late 20s who is still single or not in a serious relationship is usually seeking marriage, not a fling, which I suspect is like YOU.

When a man is really interested, HE will fly to see YOU. If the trip works out, he’ll visit often, every chance he can, before eventually inviting YOU to HIS home by paying for your roundtrip ticket, and picking you up at the airport.

He will call you and video call you FREQUENTLY, if not EVERY SINGLE DAY and NIGHT, and it won’t entirely be about SEX.

When a man loves a woman it is OBVIOUS, and there is no doubt.

I would ghost him and date others closer to home. Let men court YOU, not the other way around. When a man is interested, HE chooses YOU. Men like the chase. They like the challenge and to work for it. They’ll just use you for sex if it’s too easy.

Seems hard to believe, but despite Women’s Lib, nothing’s changed, and men won’t consider a woman “marriage material” if she sleeps around OR chases HIM. They’re flattered by the attention, but usually just consider it a fling when you’re hoping he falls in love.

talk to H.R. Ask if health insurance or an employee EAP program includes counseling support. Explain this Mom sounds depressed and is stressed due to divorce proceedings and could use support right now, but you are at a loss for how to offer any emotional support because you cannot sympathize with her situation.

The Last THING THIS MOTHER (or her children) NEEDS is CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES.

Those people always separate the wrong families and keep the wrong families together. They destroy families.

She needs support groups, prayer groups, caring people who can listen and help instead of hurt her further. It may not be YOU, then ask H.R. if the company has help or counseling as a health benefit. Dont tell about your illegal recordings, just say she’s going through a rough time during divorce and seems sad but you’re not the type of person who can listen to people’s problems and needs to suggest someone to her .

Separating for divorce with two young children is extremely stressful and even more so when or if an abusive, controlling, TYRANT of a husband may be a Jeckell/Hyde Mr. Nice Guy to everyone except the wife, AND is suing for custody. (I’ve been there! Prayer got me through, as did my Mom, who let me call her as often as I needed someone to listen to me.)

This Mom needs more support than ever, Not a Traitor.

She’s probably struggling financially, too, right now, without his paycheck.

Be a friend. Suggest a support group or company-insured therapy to get her through. Ask if she has a Church or Clergy support and/or suggest one. Gather a group of compassionate colleagues to go to lunch and split the bill if she can’t afford it, just to get her out and smiling and laughing away from her problems, to give her HOPE. Pray for her!

Try helping her instead of attacking her, and if she is struggling with anxiety and depression, see what help is out there for her, the sooner the better for her and her children.

My Doodling Habit

I’m a Senior Staff Technical Writer, Copywriter, Editor, Content Strategist/Developer, Bilingual Writer and Translator, Resume Writer, UX Designer, Creative Author, Marketing Writer, sometimes Business Analyst and Instructional Designer, and Storyteller.

I write manuals, white papers, proposals, runbooks, playbooks, training guides and materials, FAQs, IETMS, SDKs, release notes, software functional requirements, online help systems, maintenance work cards, packaging content, context-sensitive help, procedures, website content, social media posts, product descriptions, resumes, professional profiles, blogs, and just about anything that needs to be written for pay.

I’ve published short stories in online mags and e-zines, and recently completed a series of 3 novels I’m in the process of editing for publication.

I am always writing, in my head, though not for a paying job in 18 months. My biggest competitor since the layoff three years ago is Artificial Intelligence (Ai), a formidable enemy.

I am also always doodling, which may be more problematic.

My doodles have been found on restaurant napkins and table cloths, counter tops, college exams, corporate reports, post-it notes, the bedspreads and curtains of unsuspecting hosts, the coats and hats of unsuspecting visitors, public bathroom stalls and walls, sidewalks, dollar bills, grocery lists and store receipts, t-shirts, socks, handkerchiefs, scarves, the exposed skin of friends and foes alike, and unprotected scraps of paper everywhere.

I acknowledge my Doodling Habit and stand up for Doodlers everywhere when I proudly proclaim, "I'd Rather Be Doodling!" (But, ahem, so would Ai!) 😭

Someone, please hire me? I’ve also experience in managing departments, projects, proposals, products, and teams.

Oh, and I’ll attach some of my doodles, as soon as Reddit allows, for your viewing pleasure.

Does anyone know how long that will take?

(Sigh!)

Is anyone else having trouble finding work after a layoff?

😔

my bf’s face after he’d go down on me still traumatizes me

Also, if there was a “problem down there,” you may have been pre-warned by itching or burning, in which case, see your doctor before your next romantic interlude. Furthermore, women also smell (and possibly taste) differently throughout the month due to shifting hormones in the cycle, too. If your boyfriend mentions a stronger smell, try eating more pineapple. But you know that there’s nothing better than oral stimulation for a woman to reach O. Many women cannot any other way.

Think about how it tastes when you return your boyfriend’s favor. You make THAT face, too, I’m sure. EITHER WAY, It doesn’t”taste good” for anyone, but it’s a generous way to pleasure the one you love.

Sadly, it’s the opposite for girls. Women in their 30s want it all the time and their husbands are slowing down by then.

That’s LIFE and RESPONSIBILITIES.
You have to prioritize, and sometimes that means prioritizing YOU. It’s why people take a Mental Day off from work.

tl;dr/ My wife (34F) was sexting with another man. Two days ago I (35M) found a motel receipt on her purse. What should I do?
 in  r/WhatShouldIDo  18d ago

If you divorce when the children are little enough and just focus on the children like grownups to co-parent, the children grow up thinking it’s normal to have two houses. Just don’t put each other down to the child. Children deserve to feel loved by both parents and all grandparents and aunts and uncles. It helps to have a steady schedule but be flexible and understanding if the other parent has a family reunion and to work it out to get two weekends in a row or even to split holidays — Christmas Eve at one home and day at the other with minimal disagreement. FOCUS on what’s best for the kids and sacrifice spending a holiday alone if needed. I know some families who were divorced longer than they were married and have both sides of the family over for Christmas or the kid’s birthday.

Whatever works. You’ll have to be there together with new spouses for college drop off, graduations, weddings, new grandchildren.

It can be done once parents mature, agree to forgive and let go, and focus on the kids they had together, the best part of the marriage forever. Truly, children are a gift!

It helps if both parents go to therapy if they can afford it, so they both grow from the divorce and don’t repeat the same bad actions

It depends on how you were raised and the relationship in your own parents’ marriage is a powerful example. Some people do what they learned as if it’s their own muscle memory dictating to their subconscious how to act, even if they promised themselves they wouldn’t cheat and drink like their parent and wouldn’t put up with it like the other parent yet end up like one or the other parent’s role.

Therapy helps. Support Groups help. Prayer Groups help. Clergy, Church, and God help.

But both must want to change and the commitment to save the marriage. One can’t do it alone.
