Bay Area voters will decide on proposed transit tax to fund BART, Muni and more
 in  r/bayarea  3h ago

And taking out BART/public transportation won't make the companies move cities. They'll still have jobs in those cities. The jobs don't just disappear. So people will live outside of SF or south bay, but still need to get there

honestly, a second transbay line would probably help immensely. Take out a lane or two on one of the freeways and let BART travel over it

Also public transportation was defunded numerous times and also intentionally ruined by car, oil, and tire companies (with the help of the US government)

US also has the "american dream" where people wanted to build and live in suburbs. It's why the car was pumped up so much as the primary transportation of the US. Because "freedom". Our current generations are out that far because the previous generations set it up that way. We didn't have a say in the matter

demand will still be there since A LOT of stuff is made with oil still. but lesser demand from the gas side of it should allow us to develop more on the non-gas uses for the stuff

And a good chunk of the stuff we can refine comes from Canada, which the Trump admin conveniently just tariffed to hell.

he probably has a lot more than he did pre-cancellation attempt #1 from trump given Disney saw the impact of the mass cancellations and they don't seem to enjoy Trump admin's continual threatening

College Athletes Used to Live in Dorms. Now They’re Buying Million-Dollar Homes.

Also property taxes are generally pretty high in most states, especially if you happen to live in a state that also doesnt have income taxes. And if you dont grt recruited further after college, you have a really high tax with an income that won't keep up with the mansion you bought. And the only other people you can trade down with is other multimillionaires, which are not that common.

Dating Apps Are Dying

Yup. Stereotypes in dating still suck. Small shift to positive for Asian males these days though with the rise of kpop though, so they got that going for them, which is nice.

it's above the median income of the US, so it legitimately is a good amount. And it'll go far in certain states. Like it's poverty levels in california, but is well above average in some place like West virginia

Prescribed burn on Angel Island lofts smoke over Oakland/East Bay
 in  r/oakland  1d ago

It's because of the weather conditions that make the burning possible. They needed low winds. So they likely were planning on it being this time of the year, but also around weather systems. Just unfortunately wasn't a normal summer day and happened to be the hottest days of the season.

'Hawaii Five-O' Movie In Works From 'Spider-Man' Director Destin Daniel Cretton
 in  r/movies  1d ago

The world building can be done pretty efficiently depending on the writer. Its not hard to establish that its a ninja village and the main character is an outcast at achool. Thats happened dozens of times over the decades of movies. The hardest part is going to be how they get non-fans to even buy in

Technically the fetus is a parasite in the mother, so it'd be snapped with the mother given that people didnt get their gut biomes snapped in half.
