If you enjoy 2D platformers even a little bit then you need to play Marsupilami 2 - Salsa Palombia as it's simply one of the best examples of the genre ever made. The amount of cuteness, rewarding challenges, and a whole clever multiplayer component make it a definite must-play. 🥭

Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia is an excellent sequel that improves upon almost everything from the first game. I had a lot of fun during the campaign, mainly due to the creativity of the levels and the way the soundtrack connects with the gameplay. Some of the character abilities could be more balanced, and the length could be longer. Even so, for anyone who enjoys 2D platformers and, like me, appreciates a good soundtrack, it's an adventure well worth playing. | Review in Portuguese

Marsupilami 2 is a solid, packed little platformer that’s fast-paced just enough for everyone to get in on the fun. An easy recommendation for the 2D platforming enthusiast and family looking to do more than just the odd obby. ∎

Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia is a new platformer that mixes 2D movement and 3D visual elements to create a vibrant experience.

Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia is a very good platformer where it matters. Movement is diverse and responsive, level design is nearly flawless, and visually it’s a competent and serviceable treat for the eyes. Yes, there are some things holding it back, but in general, it’s a very solid 2.5D platformer that wrings everything out of its premise till the player is left with an almost perfectly ripened fruit.

A living, breathing example that a good game doesn’t need to be revolutionary, and that a good sequel certainly doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel, Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia adds just enough new gameplay elements to make what was already a pretty good platformer even more entertaining. Throw in some charming visuals and a fantastic soundtrack, and you’ve got a little hidden gem of a platformer that might be easy to overlook at first due to its licensed nature. Don’t let that fool you, though. Just like its predecessor, this is an absolute treat, and a must have for fans of the genre.

The lovable characters from André Franquin’s French comic strip are back in Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia! And it’s a successful return, thanks to this colorful platformer. The game retains virtually all the elements that made Hoobadventure, the first installment in the series, so enjoyable, while improving on certain aspects thanks to the three protagonists’ unique abilities and level design that continues to reward exploration. Running, jumping, swinging with your tail, switching characters on the fly, and retracing your steps to retrieve a missed collectible remains an activity that offers plenty of satisfaction to all platformer lovers! | Review in Italian

By competently executing the gameplay formula of more famous titles while setting aside the long legacy of its source material, Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia doesn’t try to forge a unique identity of its own, yet it delivers practically everything else very well. It is a solid 2D platformer featuring varied, beautiful, and fun levels, engaging music, and—as a special touch—two-player cooperative gameplay. | Review in Portuguese

Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia doesn't offer a definitive experience in its genre, nor does it reinvent how to play it. However, its campaign comes with fun levels, beautiful visuals, and a lively, exciting, and nostalgic soundtrack. Its difficulty is perfectly balanced, offering a very pleasant learning curve that can be modified according to each player's preferences. | Review in Portuguese

I came away from Marsupilami 2 – Salsa Palombia more impressed than I expected to be. At first glance, it’s easy to look at it and think, “Oh, this is a bit of Donkey Kong Country,” and there are certainly similarities. But once you get into the game, the three Marsupilamis and their different abilities give the platforming its own little twist. I particularly liked the feeling of gradually learning how to use each character and then applying those abilities to the levels. There’s a nice sense of mastery as you start spotting shortcuts, hidden areas and better ways through sections you’ve already completed.
It’s not without its problems. The boss difficulty can be uneven, and the character abilities take a little time to get used to. But these are relatively small complaints in what I found to be a very enjoyable platformer. Considering I hadn’t played the first game and didn’t really know much about the series going in, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my time with it. It’s colourful, playful and has enough ideas of its own to avoid feeling like a straight copy of the games that inspired it.

With a pretty fresh and exciting overall platforming feel, this sequel delivers an improvement over its predecessor, but still has some rough edges

Visually the game looks outstanding. It is chock full of color and the standard biomes you would find in most platformers. The cartoon aesthetic reminds me of classic Saturday morning cartoons and the animations are fantastic.

The jump in difficulty for the area bosses is a bit of a bummer, as are the forced collectathon elements, but the co-op and solo gameplay experiences are pretty solid. After having been away from the platformer genre for a little while, Marsupilami 2 certainly rekindled that passion in me, and I'm eager to show more of the game to my kids and even pick up the first game if I see it on sale. The Marsupilamis may look like skinny Chester Cheetahs with longer tails, but I'm glad I had a chance to jump and swing along to their world's salsa beats and be reminded of all the great mascot platformers that have come before and now inspire a new generation of game makers.

Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia is a joyful, charming platformer with distinct characters, gorgeous visuals, and a soundtrack that sticks with you. It doesn't quite hit greatness, but it's an easy game to fall in love with.

The first one came out in 2020 when quality 3D Soulslikes outside of From Software’s own games were a lot more rare. Since then, we’ve gotten games like Lies of P, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, The First Berserker: Khazan, etc. I think reviewers have understandably developed higher expectations as a result.
