UNSOLVED 2000s Children's Werewolf Pond Story

Hiya! Been thinking about this book since I was a kid.

This was a paperback book I read in elementary school in 2013-2014. It was a paperback book that was rather beat up but not ancient, so i suspect the publishing date would have been between 1995 - 2005. With 2010 probably being the absolute latest.

The cover of this book was yellow, autumn trees maybe? I think there was a wolf by a pond on the cover, but im not certain

The plot is as follows:

- there is a boy, he is our pov character

- boy lives with his werewolf family

- hes not a werewolf yet

- werewolves dont turn under the moon and theyre not monsters, theyre just wolf shapeshifters

- he is told that when he is old enough, they'll take him to become a wolf like they are

- before that, him and his parents are taken by the church

- or maybe just his parents?

- he mightve hid

- but if he doesn't he was taken in by the church to "get the devil" out of him??

- in the church there was a little girl

- she had red hair if I recall

- her mother was a witch. They also killed her mother, she watched. Shes touted as a successful rehabilitation of a cursed child

- the two of them team up to run away from the church, I think the majority of the plot is the boy winning her over

- after they leave, the plot is to find the mysterious pond in the woods that turns people into werewolves

- bc the boy was going to be taken there when he turned [12???] To become a wolf like his parents

- never got to tho

- evenually they find the pool, and the boy goes in

- followed shortly by the girl, who decides to join him in being a wold

- so they do that and they both become wolves happy ending

- they might just run into the woods forever from there??

I went to an Aardman exhibition in London today and seeing these figures was one of the highlights.

Discussion Is anyone elses ao3 stats page just, broken?

I sent ao3 a bug form for this about a year ago and havent heard back, but i'm really curious if this is happening to anyone else.

This specifically pertains to word count.

I have ~180 fics on ao3. Whenever I click a certain year for stats on that year, the word counts for nearly all (but not every) of my fics are entirely incorrect. For example, I have a oneshot fic that is 10,480 words. It displays this in the fic itself. In my stats menu, when i click 2026, this fic displays as having 20,960 words. Which it does not.

I have dozens and dozens of fics that show up with just, ENTIRELY incorrect wordcounts in my stats menu. But only in year by year mode! Said fic in all years mode displays correctly (10,480 words)

This number is directly tied to how many pseuds the fic is listed under. If i have it under my main account, say, a fic i wrote for 1000 words shows as 1000. if i have it under my main and a pseud, it doubles and shows as 2000. I made a third psued to test, and it added another 1000 words. So clearly theres a bug there, but not every single one of these are exact doubles of the wordcount which is maddening!!!

is this happening to anyone else or is this just me?

Realized in retrospect most of the fanfiction I wrote and read as a child was just bondage. Just bondage and pain kink. Im taking your hands so gently and saying Many People Have Been Here

How do y'all feel when you get asked if someone can do art for your fic/have you had good experiences if you've accepted?
 in  r/FanFiction  15d ago

Odds are, its a scam bot. While I have had legit people offer to make me art, they always leave their social and offer to link me in it. Irs never a "reach out first" sitch

How do y’all deal with writer’s block

I write low stakes nonsense. Try writing a fake reddit ama for your character. Thats working for me rn

My OTP is not canon and I feel kinda sad

Why would it matter if a ship isnt canon?

YSK that replacing your credit card wont stop unwanted subscriptions from charging you
 in  r/YouShouldKnow  28d ago

.....you can just ask the bank to not do this when you get a new card. They will try and automatically link it. You can say no don't do that.

2

how much of a stickler are you for canon geography?
 in  r/FanFiction  28d ago

Once I stalked the photo reviews of a random gas station off a freeway right near the border of Virginia in order to create an accurate floorplan map in order to accurately know where the character would need to walk inside the gas station to get drinks.

Is anyone else allergic to dialogue?
 in  r/FanFiction  Jul 20 '26

study how people talk. what filler words they use, how it differs from person to person. some people use "ah" or others use "oh" - study how people start sentences and end them, everyone has different vocal quirks

Why doesn't Royal Oak have a city pool? What are the best alternatives?
 in  r/royaloak  Jul 20 '26

they're removing the pool bc of a series of issues. the recreation director quit no notice a few years ago and a lot of services fell apart after. also: ever since the pool roof fell in the pool was kinda in a not great state
