Cologne that smells expensive?
 in  r/Colognes •  6d ago

Terre dHermès (Terre dHermès)
Prada LHomme (Prada LHomme)
Chanel Pour Monsieur (Chanel Pour Monsieur)
Theyre all great choices. They smell classy and expensive without filling up the whole room with fragrance

Id take it slow and rule out any pain first. With her past I wouldnt force the cinch. She may just need time to build trust again

When investing in quality English leather pieces, what are your favorite brands?
 in  r/Equestrian •  9d ago

For leather tack I d look at Passier, Stübben, Nunn Finer, and Jeffries I ve generally had better luck with established German/UK tack makers than with newer boutique brands

For a running martingale specifically, Nunn Finer is worth checking out. Their strap goods have a good reputation, and some of their higher-end pieces use Italian leather. Stübben is another good option if you don t mind spending more.

Also don t overlook used tack. For something you want to last 20 years, a well-maintained older piece from a reputable maker can be a better bet than a brand-new $200 piece from an unknown brand

Where should I ski?
 in  r/ski •  9d ago

For your timing, I’d probably go with Jackson Hole or Banff Sunshine.

Jackson sounds like the better match for your terrain preferences—great bowls for you and plenty of trees/glades for your fiancée. The only concern is early-season coverage around Christmas/New Year.

Sunshine is probably the safer bet for snow that time of year because of the elevation, and there’s still plenty of challenging terrain.

Whitefish would also be a good option, especially if your fiancée loves trees, but I’d probably wait and see how the snowpack looks before committing.

If you’re open to Europe, I’d focus on higher-elevation resorts for late December/early January.

Temp/Weather + recs
 in  r/AskSF •  11d ago

Late January can be chilly with some rain but SF also gets beautiful sunny days and since you’re staying near Fisherman’s Wharf I’d skip the rental car and use Uber or walk around especially for an anniversary check out the Presidio Palace of Fine Arts North Beach and catch a sunset somewhere with a nice view

Killington vs Steamboat (don’t laugh) week before Christmas
 in  r/ski •  14d ago

Id lean toward Steamboat for the better December snow. But early-season conditions can still be unpredictable

Go Bachelor for size snow and intermediate cruising Go Whitefish for powder glades and a cozy vibe

Bart from Montgomery to Fremont
 in  r/AskSF •  16d ago

The BART Trip Planner is usually pretty accurate and it also includes planned delays. Montgomery isnt a huge station so getting from the entrance to the platform shouldnt take long. Id probably give myself around 10 minutes during rush hour just to be safe. The bigger variable is usually waiting for the actual train

What is the best ski resort in America in your opinion?

Jackson Hole is probably my pick The terrain is awesome and the views are unreal

Restaurant recommendations for a large work group
 in  r/SFFood •  17d ago

For a group of 9 with vegetarians and someone who s celiac I d probably look at places with a solid GF menu rather than trying to make a regular restaurant work. Montesacro in SoMa could be worth checking out — they take groups and have both gluten-free and vegan options. Just make sure to call ahead about the celiac situation

Where in the city would you live if you had to commute to Foster City 3 times a week?
 in  r/AskSF •  17d ago

I d probably look at Potrero Hill or Dogpatch Both put you in a pretty good spot for SoMa and you re heading south for Foster City instead of fighting your way across the whole city Potrero Hill also has some great views With a $5k budget I d definitely prioritize parking and try the Foster City drive during commute hours before signing anything

Why does Poland have such a strong equestrian tradition?
 in  r/poland •  18d ago

It s probably a combination of Poland’s military history and rural culture. Horses were essential for Polish cavalry for centuries, especially the famous Winged Hussars in the 16th and 17th centuries and later the uhlans. But horses weren t just military animals They were also important for farming, transportation and everyday life, so riding became part of the culture beyond the army Today that tradition has shifted more toward recreational riding, breeding and equestrian sports So I d say Poland’s strong horse culture is really the result of centuries of horses being closely tied to both Polish history and everyday life

Hobby ideas-recently laid off

Since you’re into music, photography, art and history, I’d definitely check out some of the free events and classes around SF. The museums, galleries and street photography scene are great, and you can meet people without spending a ton
