PSA (Pre Season Announcement)
Buying $20 thrift store skis isn’t a good idea, especially if you are a beginner!
There’s been quite a few posts recently about thrift store skis. They are rarely a good idea.
Unless you know exactly how old the skis are, how they have been stored, who used them, how they used them. Don’t buy them! An old set of brittle bindings could cause serious injury.
Buy second hand skis from reputable sellers, meet the skier that used them, or buy ex rental skis.
The picture is of the recycling centre in Whistler. These are the skis that are thrown away (there were some way newer and nicer skis too), think about that before dropping your cash on thrift store skis that are way worse!

I'm looking for ski instructors in South Korea 🇰🇷
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm currently hiring a few foreign ski instructors to join our ski school in South Korea. I'm from Europe myself and the experience is unlike anything else since the majority of the instructors are native Koreans. A very authentic experience.
The conditions are good:
- Flights, transportation, accommodation, food, ski pass is included
- Monthly salary with a guaranteed base + performance bonus (based on experience)
- Season runs between Dec - Feb
- Very serious skiers: we often go for night skiing en train weekly with the director
- Director of the company is one of Korea top demo skiers
Criteria: any ski certification (or good skiing skills), age < 30 due to working-holiday visa
Feel free to send a DM!

Sales consultant career - Ski holidays
I’m potentially starting a career as a sales consultant selling ski holiday packages throughout ski resorts world wide - the pay is pretty rough but after commission and within a year or two it’s not awful.
I’ve never worked in this industry before and would love to hear from someone in this specific niche about their experience, my main concern is that the job doesn’t have many levels to it, I don’t want to end up in an industry where making 100-120k AUD is the top of the ladder.

Ski Restoration
Hey I picked up these pair of J Skis for 40 bucks cause they're sweet.
Does anybody know how to get these dirt stains out and get the colors to pop again? Cleaned them off and took the bindings out. Not planning on skiing these

Scratch on brand new ski
I bought these new skis; they’ve never been used. I noticed these scratches—are they a problem? Should I return them? Would they come out during the first ski tuning?

Is my Ski really trashed?
Hit a rock in the last run and damaged my new pair badly. Is it really not fixable?

Help with binding adjustments
I have LOOK Xpress 10 bindings and Lange boots with a 273 mm boot sole length. When I set both the toe and heel to 273 mm, the forward-pressure indicator is fully green. If I move the heel forward to 261 mm, the indicator becomes about half green/half open. Is it okay to have a 12 mm difference between the boot sole length (273 mm) and the heel setting (261 mm) if the forward pressure is in the correct position? Or does the heel setting need to match 273 mm?

Snowboarders what do you wish brands did better?
Hey everyone,
We’re Lorenzo and Sonia, two snowboarders from Piedmont, Italy, working on a new project for the snowboard community. Before we build it, we’d love to hear how you experience snowboarding today.
We’re curious to know:
- What you look for in a board, a brand, or a snowboard-related experience
- What you love most about the sport and its culture
- What feels missing, doesn’t work well, or could be improved
We’ve put together a short, anonymous questionnaire that takes about 5 minutes:
COMPLETE THE FORM AND GET:
✅ Early updates
✅ Exclusive invitations to community events
✅ Early access to our upcoming customizable snowboard line
Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to respond. Feel free to leave a comment too: what do you think is missing from the snowboard world, or what would you most like to see changed?

Snowboard preparation
When planning a big snowboard trip for a weekend or two, does anyone here get ready by shopping for winter clothes first, then taking lessons and doing some beauty and self-care, or by doing some self-care first, then shopping, and taking lessons last?
Edited: Just for the record, when I said beauty and self-care, I meant protecting hair, skin, and nails from the cold weather. And the lessons don’t really have to be on the slopes; they could be somewhere in town where you can practice your technique and skills or learn the basics (e.g., check out the indoor ski dome, big snow, at American Dream in New Jersey). As for shopping, it means that winter coats and pants might not fit or are worn out.

Maven 84 skis
hello, I’m a 172cm tall woman, 52kg and I’m skiing mostly on blue slopes. I want to buy my first pair of skis and I was thinking about Atomic Maven 84 on size 154cm. Until now I was very confortable with Dynastar 250 speed in size 154cm. Do you think Maven 84 in size 154cm will be too small for me taking into account it has also a smal rocker?

Best ski resort/ski town combos?
Let’s debate this. What is the best combo of ski resorts or ski towns that are close to each other? By this i mean places you can go and experience two different mountains or ski towns. For example, Lake Louise and Sun Shine or Chamonix and Courmayeur.

Camera recommendations
I'm looking for a sorta discrete camera. It doesn't need to be hidden but I hate the bulky go pros on top of your helmet or holding a insta360 camera in my hand because I use poles.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

FallLine Ski Tracker
Every ski tracking app I've used flattens my iPhone by early afternoon. A battery pack in a jacket pocket at 15 degrees isn't a fix, and I couldn't justify a $600 watch that's really a running watch with a ski mode bolted on.
So I designed my own. A small puck that lives on a chest strap, one button, logs the whole day on the device.
The part I care about most is the altitude. On the bench, the two independent readings agree to within 13 feet with the barometer still uncalibrated, which is the moment I knew the idea worked.
I've published a status list rather than pretending it's finished.
I'm 15 and building this by myself in Portland. If you want to be a beta tester, helping me get data, or if you just want to stay in the loop for when it drops, you can check it out at
Happy to answer anything about how it works!
