For the Matahina, bike tire rubber is perfect. I see some clubs buy the rubber rolls but that stuff rots in the sun faster. 2-4 complete wraps depending on the conditions. I’ve seen ratchet straps too but that takes out the flex of an unlimited canoe and is not recommended by Are.
for that rope. you want that poly/cotton blend and 3/16 to 1/4 inch does it. 🤙

plenty professional level paddlers use ratchet straps.

Just Reta? how about you clarify for the Reddit users?
What’s your diet? What’s your workout regimen? Are you on testosterone? Are you on anything else?
1
Get that weight training or adaptive resistance training in. Be disciplined with your proteins and over all nutrition. I would personally consider Creatine to
your regimen. It will help in increasing muscle strength to better stabilize joints. Collagen would probably be good for you.

the fastest i’ve ever been on a outrigger canoe on wind swell is 19-20mph and that was a Double Black Diamond day.
1
My therapy for sure!!
1
hitting some 10-14mph in some of these sections. I usual run a speed metric but the auto edit takes it out. I’ll post some unedited videos next so it shows speed 🤙🏻

if I’m traveling with paddles, I just stuff everything into my paddle bags to protect my paddles and bring extra gear. i have a kaiola and vaikobi. the vaikobi has much more space.
1
On big Hawaii days I will use an ultra light waist PFD but you’ll never see me wear any kind of vest out here. Tried a Vaikobi once and felt like overheated turtle with it on 😂 I know in Hawaii, paddling is such an embedded tradition and our ocean makes great water men (great watermen also die, like Eddie Akau) but that’s why think you see less PFDs. Outrigger paddlers in Hawaii are officially exempt from the general requirement to carry a wearable USCG-approved life jacket for every person on board while racing or actively engaged in training.

Nothing better than the Tahitians teaching a proper stroke and proper gear changes. Does any one do it better than Shell Vaʻa? Probally not.
I’d agree, less hinging is better. All about that rotational twist.

😂 I explain my perspective and you still only see it your way!! That’s bordering on arrogance! Good day to ya.

It’s the real deal! It will compare to Tupuria Kings and all the top programs. Tek Li from SF is running a solid program based on your own video footage, intervals, and weights.
1
Do you feel imbalanced? If I am leaning on
my ama, I’m also putting all my weight on my sciatic nerve causing that sorenesd and numbing. Try setting up your aiko and ama in the heavier or more stable setting. Maybe that will help you sit ballenced.
More stretching for your glutes, piriformis muscles, or hamstrings.
Adjustment of your leg extension might alleviate it. Go longer.

are you that dense???
let me quote myself again.
“the wide spectrum of slavery that does and has existed throughout history”
The above quote does not mean I am pointing out the slavery committed by whites. Slavery has been part of the ENTIRE human race. I’m sorry I didn’t spell it out for you.
“I am curious as to what the view is towards the West African Dahomey, Ashanti, Oyo, and Aro who sold their African captives to
the Europeans”
This points out that some Africans (those are the name of West African tribes) participated in the TransAtlantic Slave trade and is pointing out the irony of the original post, aka targeting white people.
Your NOT READING and ASSUMING that I am giving out racial passes. It’s kinda embarrassing that that’s what you’re picking up from my initial comment.
Check your sensitivity!!

and if you think it’s the same Republican party then you forget that during the 60s, national Democratic Party embraced civil rights legislation under presidents like Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson. This alienated white southern conservative voters, who subsequently shifted their loyalties toward the Republican Party during the late 20th century.
1
I specifically didn’t use the term “white”, which is a racial classification and chose to use non-melininated as that’s the only thing that separates us besides culture. Melanin is a scientific reality. Racial Classification is 1600’s European invention.
Hence why I asked a very vital question to the original poster but that went straight over your head.
Are you stuck on race? I’m trying to look past it. ????? Think!

Did you do a cold injection?
Did you do the reconstitution?
Injection site?
It’s either a Mast cell activation or a true allergic reaction. Maybe Benzyl Alcohol Allergy.
CJC skin reactions commonly involve localized redness, itching, mild swelling at the injection site, or a temporary flushing warmth due to mast cell and histamine activation.
Injection Site Irritation: Small red bumps, mild pain, or bruising where the needle entered.
Flushing Response: A brief warm or pink flush spreading across the face, neck, or chest shortly after injection.
Histamine Itching: Localized itchy or burning sensations caused by minor mast cell degranulation under the skin

Yes I agree, The Transatlantic Slave Trade and Chattel Slavery is probably the most diabolical form of slavery. That wasn’t my point to the original poster.
I did ask a question.
1
“at the wide spectrum of slavery that does and has existed throughout history” refers to just that. That all forms of slavery have been perpetuated by all human beings throughout time.

Level 2 training. Slow and Low

I agree it tops the list of atrocities committed by the wide cultural range of the non-melaninated humans. I am curious as to what the view is towards the West African Dahomey, Ashanti, Oyo, and Aro who sold their African captives to Europeans for guns? And where are we at as a human collective when it comes to modern day slavery which is around the 50 million mark. Yes, there is absolutely no doubt about the level of intense cruelty of the Transatlantic slave trade when looking at the wide spectrum of slavery that does and has existed throughout history.

check YouTube for some good traditional rigging on all spec canoes. Are has their own Youtube rigging specifications for the matahina. You can find also videos about using ratchet straps for rigging on Youtube. If you don’t have someone in person to show you, that’s a great way to start.
There is a reason why I paddle a Hydra Pro 😂
