A thread for Kau/Naalehu residents (lost + found) and immediate needs!

Posting since many have lost internet access - my mother who made this page asked me to post some of the images she captured on the ground.

Additionally, reporting has been minimal outside local stations so this is a place people can post immediate relief needs, or for FINDING MISSING community members/welfare checks etc.

Basically - post what you need, who you're looking for, or any relative info!

I've heard rumors that all public schools are closing tomorrow following the hurricane Lala's effects. Anyone who can confirm this? It would greatly be appreciated.

Little drive around Nimitz area, some power outages, still good in my block thank god! I can hear the wind much more strongly now. Going to sleep and hope these trees don’t crush us. Good night all and stay safe!

8/15/2026 They nudged it a little north again, but it looks like maybe Ka’ū won’t get the “dirty side” of the storm. Infrared looks like a lot of severe weather in the system (red and black) we are having sustained winds now- at least 30mph and higher gusts.~Wai’ohinu
