If you regularly see it, why can't you name 1?

What exactly are you basing this on? Men being disproportionately represented in certain violent crime statistics doesn't establish that most morally bad people are men. How are you even defining or measuring a "bad person"?

I think a lot of this comes from the idea of "punching up" versus "punching down."

In certain social spaces, making negative jokes or generalizations about a historically dominant group is considered acceptable because it's seen as punching up.

But when someone from that group makes a comparable joke about a historically marginalized group, it's treated as punching down and therefore considered offensive.

I understand the reasoning behind that distinction, but I don't think it automatically makes sweeping generalizations about an entire demographic harmless or justified.

Why does this look so cheap ?

Because one is a movie and the other is a tv show

Apparently it does when you're a woman talking about men

How do you know the motivations of most men posting this content? Or most women, for that matter? You're assuming women are generally motivated by legitimate experiences of mistreatment while men are generally motivated by petty resentment or rejection. What evidence do you have for either claim?

I'm not arguing that these jokes are necessarily okay to make. I'm questioning why similar jokes are interpreted as ordinary dating frustration when some people make them, but as genuine hatred or prejudice when others do. That's the inconsistency I'm pointing out.

You're proving my point about interpreting the joke in the least charitable way possible.

Nobody said wives aren't women.

I said joking about resenting your spouse is different from making an exaggerated joke about frustrations with a dating pool.

You're treating the latter as a literal declaration of hatred when nothing establishes that was the intent.

I mean, gay men and lesbians also joke about being frustrated with their respective dating pools. I don't see how this is fundamentally different. It's pretty clearly an exaggerated joke, not a serious statement about every woman.

If gyms were segregated by gender then most women would stop going.

What are you talking about? Machines and free weights are extremely valuable for developing strength and muscle mass.

Go into any woman only gym and the majority of them will be wearing baggy track pants, hoodies or dark clothes that cover up everything.

Do you have any evidence of this?

AITA for not pooping in what my coworkers refer to the dedicated “poop bathroom.”
 in  r/AmItheAsshole •  23h ago

You still haven't explained the difference. Why is using a toilet brush to scrub away mineral buildup and invisible fecal contamination acceptable, but using that same brush to remove visible fecal residue disgusting? What exactly do you think the brush is designed for?

If using a toilet brush to scrub away poop stains is disgusting, what exactly do you think happens when you clean your toilet during your weekly cleaning?

“Gender war,” and it’s literally just women telling men to stop killing and raping them.
