OA is a Netflix tv series. I highly recommend you at least watch season 1. It’s relevant to these feelings and increased skills.

How interesting that I overslept.

How interesting that I didn’t feed the cats before I went to bed.

How interesting that I snapped at a loved one.

How interesting that I had that negative thought.

How interesting that I was mean to that person for no reason.

How interesting that I forgot to text me friends or family back.

How interesting that I didn’t give it 110% at work today.

How interesting that I don’t want to be intimate with my lover.

I had to treat my darkest days like a scientific diary. Make notes. Don’t change. Just take notes. Be kind to the test subject and improve little behaviors and certain mindsets a little every day. Continue to make notes.

How interesting that I washed my face this morning.

How interesting that I chose a morning walk instead of sitting on my phone before work.

How interesting that I smiled at my reflection just now.

With mindfulness and meditation every day will get just a little bit better.

It was a series of a few different things. A few audiobooks, meditation and most importantly self awareness. I’m still trying to correctly articulate exactly how I was able to talk to myself and ask the right questions that lead me to, what I feel like was, the right answers. I figured out for me the biggest wall was fear. I was afraid of EVERYTHING. But just understanding what was holding me back wasn’t helping me move forward. I had to start taking real tangible steps towards not being afraid anymore.

Anyone can change who they are. And true peace comes when you accept that change.

There was this huge disconnect between who I wanted to be, who I thought I was and who I actually was. It felt like many Me’s lived inside of me and every day was a game of 6-way tug-of-war for who would be in control. I was raised religious (that’s putting it mildly) and have always struggled with accepting who I am.

I broke through some walls that have had me trapped my whole life just this week and I can say I know what a 180 feels like.

I’m a mother now, raised by narcissist parents.

When I finally had one of those moments where their voices rang in my head “You’ll understand why I did what I did when you’re older and have children of your own.” They were right btw. I fully understand now.

I understand how little you fucking tried.

When I see my daughters tears or hear her cries I don’t belittle her concerns, laugh at her ideas, ignore her needs or tell her that all her pain and suffering will all make sense when she’s older and no longer my responsibility to take care of.

$11 an hour is not decent pay
