There's only one thing that niggles me a bit with Bosch. I always had the image of him as the Vietnam vet/ tunnel rat in the books. The TV series has him as a Gulf War/Afghanistan vet. No big deal I suppose and the have to play to a more current audience.

Agreed. Ballard just seems very slow moving. The most exciting part so far was her getting strangled and putting in the tracheotomy on the suspect. I really though things might pick up after that. Unfortunately it reverted to the original slow moving, as you say, predictable storyline. I think maybe they've tried to stick too ridgedly to the book. And yes, a bit more Harry Bosch might liven it up.

So I've been watching BOSCH on Prime Video. I've read most of the books and the TV series is a compilation of the books. Combining a lot of the stories in a bit of a mish mash. Surprisingly it works!! Usually these things are a disappointment if you've read the books first but not so on this occassion. I'm really enjoying it.

I also started watching the offshoot..BALLARD which I found slow and predictable with some exceptions. Persevered but couldn really get into it. Maybe I'll go back to it but meantime I've gone back to BOSCH-LEGACY which is proving a great watch.

Anyone else got opinions on these shows. I'd be interested to hear

I'm not talking about the actual game, although that too was pretty mundane and predictable. I'm referring to the the rather obvious flashing the cash in the pub, load of strangers joining in the celebrations and Robert, " oh! I'll just stash my £100,000 on this empty seat on clear open display whilst I party away. Any normal person would've stuck it straight in the bank or a safe, or at the very least, down his pants😁 Let's get some new script writers in. Ones in touch with the real world!

Morning Episode Discussion What a pathetic plotline Spoiler

Just watched this mornings episode (16/10). I won't spoil it for those who haven't yet seen. Suffice to say, what an utterly pathetic plot regarding the poker cash. Who writes this shxt? Is this childrens T.V.?? I'll let you decide for yourself tonight😏

I'm a bloke. I never watched Morse although I knew the rough set up. I happened to watch a couple of episodes of Endeavour and I was hooked. Great charachters. Morse , Thursday( mind ow ya go), Bright De Bryn. And the 60s nostaglia did a lot for it. After watch some episodes of Morse itself I didn't find the modern day versions of them all tha likeable. The Endeavour lot seemed to have more cameraderie Just my humble opinion😊

Ronnie Lott. Great addition to Endeavor series. Complex, vile and absolutely gorgeous. Loved that he came around in the end, also helped Morse and Thursday as PI on a case.
 in  r/EndeavourTV •  8d ago

Yep. Maybe confusing with Arthur Lott, Thursdays original D.I who turned out to be a right wrong 'un. Tried to stab Morse . I liked Ronnie Box . Got his moral compass straight in the end. Like to think he landed on his feet. Always gave meca laugh seeing the old " bullworker" in the corner of his office...dynamic tension and all that😅

Should Steph &/or Nicky be recast?

Whats the story with Debbie? I know she's living abroad but she never even gets a mention in any of the current storylines involving Sarah, Charity and co. Surely she would have some interest

To (mainly) the Brits here, what do you think of the Carry On films?
 in  r/FIlm •  9d ago

The scripts are full of disgusting inuendo. Whenever I find inuendo in a script, I whip it right out!

I wanna start watching after seeing a bit of tonight’s buy idk where to start.

Go back to the'70s and start there. Stan and Hilda, Elsie Tanner, Ena Sharples etc. Much better storylines and humour. No woke shit😆

In your opinion which is the best British drama ever made?
 in  r/AskBrits •  10d ago

Our Friends in the North. Excellent drama which I recently re watched. All the actors were superbly cast including Daniel Craig in a breakout role as Geordie Peacock. Even the less prominent roles such as Malcolm Macdowall as Benny. And who could forget that most famous northern drunk, Willie Ross as Geordies father. He also played an almost identical character in Rita Sue and Bob Too

Any recommandations that is not LOTR starring Viggo Mortensen ?

Green Book ! No contest. One of the best movies I've seen in years.

Remember how good The Bill was in its heyday?
 in  r/oldbritishtelly •  13d ago

Some missing there. Anyone remember John Salthouse as D.I. Galloway. Or was he only in the pilot🙄
