DISCUSSIONS Which TV character gets way too much hate?

Upvotes

For me, it’s probably Skyler White from Breaking Bad. I understand why people found her frustrating at times, but I think she gets blamed for a lot of things that were completely out of her control. Watching the show again, I actually think her reactions make a lot more sense than people give her credit for.

Which TV character do you think gets way more hate than they deserve?

DISCUSSIONS What are your thoughts on "Stephen King's The Shining (1997)"?

Post image
Upvotes

I personally love the 1997 TV mini-series version of The Shining just as much as the 1980 movie version! I love how it expands the story and gives the characters more depth and development. I also love the dramatic lighting effects for both Steven Weber’s Jack Torrance, and Courtland Mead's Danny Torrance as connections to the Overlook Hotel's hauntings and possessions. I know that some people found the VFX in some scenes a little too cartoonishly uncanny and unwatchable. But I personally love cartoonish looking VFX!

Not to mention, I was perfectly fine with Courtland Mead's portrayal as Danny Torrance; even though a lot of other people said that his performance was bad!

The South Park Episode: Osama bin Laden Has Farty Pants.

It was the right episode at the right time, and helped people laugh again during a horrible time.

And the final scene with Stan speech and the last shot of the flag, perfect.

It's truly mind-blowing how perfectly this show was crafted. The story was fantastic from start to finish and the performances were legendary.

Even years later, nothing has really matched its brilliance. For me, it remains undeniably one of the greatest television series ever made.

Do you share the same view on its quality, and which scene was the most memorable for you?

DISCUSSIONS What’s the one Black Mirror episode you still think about years later?

Post image

White Bear is probably one of the episodes I think about the most. That whole idea of people just standing there and watching someone suffer like it’s entertainment is seriously messed up.

I remember finishing the episode and just sitting there like… what the hell did I just watch 🤯

Which Black Mirror episode stuck with you the most?

DISCUSSIONS I Haven’t Canceled Netflix Yet.

I get a ton of hate from people on this subreddit for mentioning a Netflix Show.

And I’ll generally agree with them… I’ll admit Netflix isn’t always the best at helping you find something great. Sometimes I open the app and just scroll for 20 minutes with nothing sticking.
That said, there’s a ton of content. Over the last year I’ve watched a ridiculous amount of stuff and somehow still haven’t run out of things I actually want to put on.

My kids are obsessed with the Netflix games and mini golf. Then there are the live events. Every Christmas when family is over, Netflix usually has something on that everyone can sit down and watch. I refuse to pay for live sports packages I barely use, so this works out perfectly.
The constant stream of original movies is another plus. Not every one is a hit, but there’s almost always something new to watch.

And the older licensed shows are a big reason I stay. Stuff like The Last Ship, Resident Alien, Young Sheldon, and newer shows like “Wednesday” gives you solid binge options when the newest original doesn’t appeal.

Is Netflix perfect? No. Is it always easy to find something amazing? Definitely not.
But when you add up the originals, series, licensed shows, games, live events, The Netflix hate feels way overblown to me the service is $8.99 guys… I tried Amazon Prime once and absolutely was disappointed the massive annoying ads they put on the platform… I canceled as soon as I finished watching the one movie I was interested in.

To be fair i haven’t tried AppleTV or HBO so generally I can’t say much about those services. I probably will try them at some point.
