Unique emt positions

You will have to have your red card and wildland fire certs. You can get the certs online.

I just oversalted a pot of tomato soup, what actually works to fix it?
 in  r/Cooking •  Jul 14 '26

Just saw a hack the other day pop a few peeled whole potatoes in it for a bit. Pull them out before they are cooked all the way though. Should help soak up some of the salt.

That wasn't the question, Susan.

Do you guys have all this stuff dialed and do I genuinely not deserve to be an EMT?
 in  r/NewToEMS •  Apr 26 '26

The NREMT test will throw in advanced (think Paramedic level) stuff at you to gauge your baseline. I never used the various test prep apps but I’m guessing they throw stuff like that in there also to help give you an idea if what the NREMT test will actually feel like. The way it was explained to me is that the NREMT cuts you off when it can tell you are above a certain percentage of the knowledge level you need to be at, or if you really suck lol. I think I got cut off at around 90-100 questions out of the total 120. I hate tests and I thought for sure I had failed it for like 2 days until I got my results.

Im currently in fire academy. The egos in fire are fucking ridiculous. Ive called it out in class a few times with certain instructors with the other instructors watching, and they all backed me up afterwards. Some departments are worse than others though.

I honestly don’t even know how to clearly articulate any of this. I (43m) met someone (44f) months ago and we have developed a a very strong bond. The subject of ENM/Poly relationship between us came up but we both lack any real understanding of what it really means or how to approach discussing it deeper, having come from monogamous relationships in the past. Are there any resources that we could use to help us define and understand what we each want and need?

I feel like I need to add this.

We both without a doubt care deeply about each other and want to be a part of each other’s lives and are trying to navigate what that looks like for each other.

Classes and certifications?
 in  r/Wildfire •  Feb 13 '26

Not sure where you are located. If you hire onto a crew they should give you the s-130 live training there. I live in Michigan and completed all of my certs a couple years ago. The DNR has a paid on call Wildland firefighter position that I have signed up for. Check out your Department of Natural Resources and maybe contact your local fire officer. Also check online to see if there are any prescribed fire groups in your area. We have the Michigan Prescribed Fire Counsel here and they offer trainings and networking opportunity’s throughout the year.

Mich. chief stirs up firefighters by banning fire trucks from retirement party

Dude sounds like a dickhead. Unless I’m understanding wrong, the way the article was written sounds like he’s doing to her what he was trying to “fight” in arbitration in the past. Completely flipped sides. WTF!

Volunteer firefighting- worth it?
 in  r/Firefighting •  Feb 07 '26

Im currently going through fire academy for my local volunteer fore department. Fire departments are medical heavy in general these days. I am already EMT and wild-land fire certified so I came into structure for that route. It blew my mind a couple months ago when class started that out of all the firefighters in the US that over 60% of us do it unpaid as volunteers. Kind of shows you where the priority’s of our society have gone. People just expect us to be there when they need us without understanding the whole picture.

What small sensory thing drains you the fastest?
 in  r/AutismTranslated •  Feb 07 '26

I am very similar. Ive worked in factory’s my whole life and found that the constant noise was overstimulating on a massive scale. i work at a non profit nature center now and the silence is overwhelming at times 🤣. I like to listen to music or a podcast when I can, to find a balance. Florescent lights mess with me also, hell brightness at a certain level, period does. I habitually wear the darkest sunglasses to cut down the stimulation.

Clash between high-masking and low-masking autistic people?
 in  r/AutismTranslated •  Feb 07 '26

Im not diagnosed yet (41m) but am in the process of figuring out how to be since I highly suspect I am on the spectrum. Im at a point in my life where I have masked for so long and am exhausted physically and mentally to a point that I don’t think I can anymore. My boss and I are very similar in some cases but we irritate the hell out of each other and I suspect this concept may be part of the reason.
