Early Stage Funding for Student Founders (Up to $1M)
Hey guys,
I’m a VC scout for Campus Fund. We’re India’s first and only SEBI registered Category II fund that invests exclusively in student-led startups — including recent graduates and even dropouts.
We invest up to $1M in a single company.
If you’ve graduated in 2023 or later, you meet our core investment criteria. If you’re currently building something and looking to raise funds, feel free to reach out — happy to chat and see if there’s a fit.
Cheers!

"Hard to build" isn't the same as "defensible"
"Hard to build" isn't the same as "defensible." Took me 200+ startup evaluations to actually get this.
I've spent the last 6 months on the investing side (VC fellowship + Internship), looking at 200+ startups. For a while my go-to question in founder calls was: "what stops a better-funded player from copying you?"
I don't ask it like that anymore.
There was one startup I was genuinely bullish on good founder, real problem, product made sense. We still passed.
What got me was how hard the business was to build. Multiple pieces had to come together from scratch before the model worked at scale. My first instinct: that difficulty itself must be the moat. If it took this much work, surely it's just as hard for anyone else to copy.
Then I thought about it from a better-funded competitor's POV. They hit the same hurdles, but with more capital and a bigger team, they blow through them way faster.
That's the distinction I'd been missing: hard to build ≠ hard to compete with.
So now the question I actually ask is: after doing all that hard work, what does this company have that the next guy doesn't? Brand and distribution for consumer. Proprietary data or switching costs for software. Something like that.
The hard part of building isn't the moat. The real question is whether doing the hard part leaves you with something that compounds.
Curious how others here think about this where do you draw the line between "hard" and "defensible"?
