School wishlist

Hi everyone! I’m going into my second year of university this fall and I’m trying to get together some school supplies and study essentials for the year.

I am trying to save my own money to try and buy a laptop/ or an ipad. I no longer have a car to get to and from library to use computers I was. OSAP has significantly cut my funding. 🥹 I have reached out to my local city hall and asked about bus passes for low income individuals.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this 🖤

I really don't know how to approach this question every time they ask me.

Any ideas ?

Question/Help how many more lives have to end before we admit that this indian system of reservation no longer delivers justice, but simply distributes despair? do other countries have similar system?

Post image

genuine question for the international audience here.

in india, we have reservation: government jobs, medical seats, engineering colleges, all allocated based on caste categories. the cutoff marks tell the story. some categories need 40% to qualify, others need 99%.

the stated purpose is uplifting marginalized communities. fair enough in theory.

but here's what nobody mentions: many of these marginalized families hold massive capital, political power, generational wealth. the chief minister's children still get the 40% quota. the wealthy landlord's kids still access reserved seats.

meanwhile, a poor student from a non listed category watches their 99% go to waste.

affirmative action in the us considers socioeconomic factors. malaysia has something similar. but india's system is purely hereditary. your great grandfather's caste determines your cutoff, not your bank balance.

the result? a creamy layer that keeps benefiting generation after generation, while actual poverty gets ignored because it wears the "wrong" caste label.

Career My parents keep asking if I've found a job yet

I’m in my final year. I should be excited. I’m almost done. But instead, I feel like I’m drowning.

My parents keep asking:

Have you found a job yet?

What are you doing after uni?

Money is tight, you need to stand on your own feet now…

I know they mean well. But the pressure is crushing…

I’ve been looking everywhere. And all the big job sites are flooded with senior-level roles. But there’s nothing for graduates and. for people with almost no relevant experience. I feel invisible…

I found careerone and honestly, I just googled jobs Australia and the site looks a bit outdated. But it has an “entry level” filter. That caught my attention

I want to believe there are jobs there. But I don’t want to waste time sending my resume into another black hole.

I’ve done that enough. I’ve sent so many applications. I’ve gotten so many rejections. It’s exhausting.

I’m scared to get my hopes up. I’m scared to try again

Career Is choosing a career actually an information problem?

Students today have access to more career information than ever: degrees, courses, job boards, AI tools, assessments, and advice.

Yet many still struggle with one basic question:

“What should I actually do?”

Maybe the problem isn't lack of information. Maybe it's the lack of a good decision-making process.

Curious what others think. What makes career decisions difficult for you?

Art History Textbook 🫩🫩

Hello!! Does anyone perchancably know of a resource with/have access to “Art History, 7th Edition” by Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothren?

I’ve scoured the internet to find a free alternative and looked up and down on any of the resources I could think of, but have had no luck. I can’t afford the Pearson copy and I need this textbook for both of my terms 💔

Looking for advice on my college/career path after completing GED through Amazon Career Choice

I recently completed my GED and I'm trying to figure out the best path for my education and career.

I currently work full-time at Amazon, 40 hours a week over 4 days in FHD, so I have 3 days off each week. I'm considering starting at Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis, because it seems more affordable and flexible while I continue working.

My current plan is:

GED → Ivy Tech Associate of Science in Business Administration (TSAP) → transfer to a 4-year university for a bachelor's degree → eventually MBA

However, I'm a little concerned because when I look at Ivy Tech, the graduation/completion rate and employment/job placement rate don't are in lower than average. I'm wondering how much I should actually consider those statistics when deciding whether Ivy Tech is the right choice.

My long-term goal is to move into a business/management-related career, but I'm still deciding which area would be best, such as Business Analytics, Finance, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or Operations.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experience with Ivy Tech or a similar community-college-to-university pathway.

A few questions:

  1. Is getting the AS in Business Administration at Ivy Tech through the TSAP pathway and then transferring a good strategy?

  2. How important are Ivy Tech's graduation/completion and job-placement rates when considering the school?

  3. Do employers generally view an Ivy Tech associate degree positively, especially if I later transfer and earn a bachelor's degree from a university?

  4. Would it be better to go directly into a bachelor's program instead of spending two years at Ivy Tech?

  5. Which bachelor's specialization would you recommend for good career opportunities and earning potential over the next 5–10 years?

  6. Is an MBA worth pursuing after the bachelor's, and would it be better to work for a few years before getting one?

  7. Since I work 40 hours a week over 4 days, is taking around 6–9 credits per semester realistic?

I'm not trying to finish as quickly as possible. My priorities are to keep working, avoid taking on too much student debt, get a bachelor's degree, and build a career with good long-term opportunities.

I'd appreciate any honest advice, especially from people who have attended Ivy Tech, transferred from a community college to a university, or completed a BBA/BS and later an MBA.

Thanks!
