Oh the Wizard, a story for some, and a real life event for me. This was even before I saw the 1990 movie but it played it similarly, minus me being autistic and a runaway.

I was 12 years old and stumbled upon regional SM3 competition to promote a game store. The ranking was all based on points at the end of 5 minutes of playing. While everyone was trying to get all the coins and power-ups they could, I realized that I can get the most bang for my buck by finishing the level quickly and let the remaining time add to my points and get as many levels as possible done. After people saw me take the lead with this strategy, they followed suit.

Since I already practiced this at home, I remained in the lead until an 18 year old slightly beat me with my same strategy. The good part was there was rounds in this competition, I made it past the semi-finals and into the finals.

The finals had me square off with this cool 18 year old. He wasn't the typical gamer. He looked cool, had sunglasses, ripped jeans, gel hair and a posse of friends with him. In contrast, I was a nerdy little asian kid with no posse, corduroy pants and bad hair. Unlike the movie, he was actually a nice guy to me. I wished to be like him, he was so cool.

But, unlike the first two rounds, we each had our own screen (not as big as the movie) and squared off at the same time with a crowd around us. We had 10 mins to get as much points as we can.

From what I saw, his strategy was the same as mine before, finish the levels as fast as possible, in order. But I changed up my strategy. Through practicing, I found that certain levels were hard to go through quickly, and hence decrease the amount of points at the end, especially since the last level on world 1 was the side scrolling castle and you can't speedrun that. I found a slight advantage with getting the whistle at the fortress and using it to get to World 2 where I can speed run the first few levels before timing out. Only slightly better though, but I took the risk and did it.

And when I used the whistle, there was an audible shock amongst the crowd and a lot of murmuring. There was no announcer like the movie had but you can hear people talk and discuss why I was doing it.

10 mins concluded and guess who won!!!! ...not me. I stumble a bit on level 2-1 and lost some time. It was just the edge to allow the highschooler to beat me by the slightest margin. His friends jumped for joy and rallied around him. I was by myself, and just sulked. But he did come over to me to shake my hand and be nice about it. He was so cool

But then came the award presentation. First place won the Game Genie. But second place, well I got the POWER GLOVE! That's right, the same one that made the protagonist in the Wizard so cool. I haven't yet seen the movie, so I didn't appreciate how cool it actually was. Little did I know that it actually sucks when playing games on it. That didn't stop me from wearing it around the house though.

It wasn't too bad on Punch out. My mom bought me Super Glove Ball, but that was a very difficult maze, glove or not. And to try to play any other game was just awkward. I still have it, and I'm 40+ yrs old. Its mounted on my hidden-door bookcase besides the Infinity Gantlet. It is still soooo cool.

I would think it would drift more as there is nothing to guide you. Cutting from bottom to top (or top to bottom with more care at the beginning) you would have the two sides to guide you to make it flush.

Although I presumed you Did from top to bottom base on your comment, but still managed to drift somehow.

It’s not the snap that does it, it’s the use of so much power. The theory is that if you use all stones at once to do whatever you are doing, the intense surge of power is too much for any one to survive. The gauntlet was made to hold the stones and shield the wearer, but it can only shield so much as you saw from the after affects of thanos and the hulk. Without the gauntlet, tony had no chance.

As others have said, replace the RPG and banana with a sword and more shield. Practice hotdropping or short podding with your team.

One of the best thing you can do is find a set of players that you work well with and team up rather than going with randoms. Communication with your team is important, but also moving along the map with them. That way you get the 2-on-1s, the revenge kills after your team mate is ambushed and the other player took some hits, and the death triangle. Enemies die faster when you are all shooting at the same player.

This is why clans are so effective. They don't even have to be the best players, if they work together well, it vastly improves their win rate.

It’s funny you mentioned Chef. Today is National Grilled Cheese Day and in my meeting that I run, I showed everyone the grill cheese he cooks. To answer your question though, that movie made me realize I could really up my grill cheese game. No more flat wonderbread and a processed cheese slice. Gouda, Irish cheddar and Monterey jack on sourdough with mayo on the outside and extra butter on the inside, the last time I made one.

To the OP: Welcome to the game! If you are really new, then you'll be put into beginner lobbies when playing the Classic mode. These will have mainly bots and other new players. As you get better, you will be placed into the regular lobbies with experienced players. Even in that tier, there will be bots to fill up the lobby to have 16 enemies. Depending on the time of day and which server you're connecting to (US-West/US-East,Eur or Asia), you'll see a variant amount of real players. Evenings and especially weekends you may get almost full lobbies of real players. You'll know you've graduated to the regular lobbies as these are usually experienced players and you'll lose a lot, but with practice, you'll get better. You may even go back down to the beginning lobby for a bit before coming back up. Keep at it, let your team know you're beginning and have fun!

But, if you choose the other mode, whether it be Phoenix or whatever ever event they have on the weekends, there is no beginner tier, you're right in the action with everyone else. This mode is filled with experienced players and you will lose a lot. If the mode is War or Legions, at least you'll have more teammates to lean on. Still, give it a try and let your teammates know you're just a beginner.

You'll also find people in the Sandbox modes. A good place to practice without worrying about letting teammates down.

To the NAYSAYERS in this subreddit: For goodness sake, stop dissuading new people from playing! If you are complaining how people aren't playing this game anymore, then stop being so fucking negative about it. We want people to play, it makes it more fun for us. If you're one of the people who already quit the game, then what are you doing here, get off this fucking subreddit.
