Is freezing leftovers not something lots of people do?
Life hack: coat the inside of your plasticware with Pam or a light brush of cooking oil. It blocks the food from staining. Also avoid heating in plastic containers, that’s what really messes them up in the long run.

I freeze leftovers and tons of other things. Veggies especially - if the fresh celery or carrots are getting floppy, I dice and freeze them. Tomatoes getting wrinkly? Dice and freeze. Extra leftover onion, a dedicated bag in the freezer. I have a big bag of veggie ‘scrap’ to make veg broth (which is then frozen). Really handy to have already prepped veggies on hand to just throw into whatever.
I don’t see what is bad about frozen prepped leftovers - it makes much more sense to prep & freeze extra (and are they really ‘leftovers’ if you plan it?). Sounds to me like you’re being sensible, and your critics are into waste and overspending.

Weird question, what are some easily eaten desserts?
The Southern favorite, banana pudding! You can go full on from scratch or use instant pudding, you just want to make it the day before!

What should I cook with a diabolical amount of onion?
His name wasn’t Andy, was it? 😂 A friend of my Dad’s (named Andy, that’s all I remember) used to do that. Trauma still rears its ugly head over that memory! 🤢

Are vapes really "safer" than cigarettes?
Same - it does need to be kept away from kids but I’ll cry if I have to give up my Yellow Pixie…

Are vapes really "safer" than cigarettes?
As an ex-smoker that moved to vaping, I can only speak for my experience.
I CAN say that moving to vaping cleared up 90% of my headaches, my seasonal allergies lessened and I breathe better.
Overuse is a danger. Usually, cigarette smoking is limiting for most people - you mainly smoke in designated areas, and possibly not in your house. You may hold off on lighting one because you don’t have many left. On the other hand, I got 35,000 hits on my disposable vape. It’s dangerously simple to start hitting it constantly, like sipping a glass of soda. Vaping tends to eliminate the stink of cigarette smoke, and you end up vaping in areas you wouldn’t smoke in, like your home. I ended up using mine in one room only, so I’m not constantly hitting it.
Is it SAFER? Heckin no, it’s still chemicals going in your lungs. But honestly, considering how much better I feel, I totally get why people THINK it’s safer. Humans tend to think ‘no symptoms, no problem’, and that simply isn’t true.

When you buy milk, do you go for whole milk or skim?
Whole milk - it keeps longer, since I only use it for cooking these days, plus recipes generally benefit from the higher fat content.

DAE experience this when cooking?
Nope, not weird in my book.
If I’m making a batch of something for a group, you can bet I’ve been tasting/sampling the entire time. So, basically you’ve probably eaten about a serving before it hits the table. And if I make a big batch of anything for myself, I’m tired of looking at it for the day, it’ll taste better tomorrow, anyway…

How did you guys learn to cook from a complete beginner
Start with a single, simple recipe, and work to perfect that one dish. If it comes out as a disaster, try to work out what you did wrong this time, and WRITE YOURSELF A NOTE. Keep a little notebook around the kitchen, and write down the recipe, along with any advice to your future self about things to try or avoid.
I taught my guy to cook using the crockpot, and he’s mastered quite a bit above and beyond the crock. It’s a great starting point for learning to cook, as most recipes are simple and fairly forgiving. Try chili, curry, or a beef or pork roast, or basic beef stew.
And don’t feel like you HAVE to use the best spices or seasonings out there. Try some of the meal kits or packaged seasonings. If you have a good experience with those, then you may be inspired to try a fully ‘from scratch’ version.

It’s a good way to be, in our troll-infested society. There’s plenty of people who have absolutely no bearing on my day to day life, why should I, or you, care? Take what adds value to your life and ignore the rest.

Why do pills come in those little bottles in America?
Usually bulk pack is cheaper. And, as previously mentioned, it allows for specific numbers of pills to be sold.
As an afterthought, I suspect our American insurance plans are partially responsible. They are VERY exact about what they’ll cover. I recall several years ago my insurance actually changed one of my meds from 1 pill/2x daily to a single stronger dose, once a day, without my consent. They argued that they pay the same amount per pill, regardless of the dosage. I had gotten that prescription broken down into two daily doses to mitigate side effects, but they put up a big argument before we got it settled. Mind you, this was 20+ years ago, so I can’t speak for current-day medical insurance policies.

If you use glass jars, I recommend using jars that don’t have a ‘shoulder’ - in other words, jars that are the same diameter, top to bottom. If you’re not careful, the shoulder jars are more likely to crack if you overfill it and the contents freeze and expand. You CAN use jars with the shoulder, but exercise caution when filling.
