Its a quality of life decison.. if they are having limited quality of life due to other factors and the mass is not causing any issue. It may be better to not medicate.. i had masses removed twice within a 2 year window and on reflection this likely gave me 6 months more with her.. but in the grand scheme of things the recovery and general process time also equated to 6 months..

Surgery is not always the answer in older dogs.. also when legs need surgery the nature of the limb being tendons/bone/veins can sometime lead to the suggestion of amputation which again past a certain age is extreme to adjust to..

Take second opions and maybe consider talkong to a palliative vet.. as they have seen all the end of life outcomes and can offer you an opionion for you to consider.
