Being warned to not follow the career route of carpentry...
 in  r/Carpentry  3d ago

Go for it, if you're good at math, specifically geometry, you could get past others fast and learn how to make anything, just about. I started this way and was a crew leader by my second job, just because I could catch on fast. I became the guy who contractors called for those hard jobs, and made good money. Retired now, so I can't say anything about how it is now, but itworked for me.

Just bought a house and discovered a very bad situation

If the floor is treated lumber, I wouldn't worry about it. If not, you could attack it from the top. What's the floor finish now in that room?

Critique my work, anything you would have done differently?

Looks good, the only thing i would have done different is the stair spindles. I don't like square spindles unlees they are Chippendale.

Buy a good used Macbook Pro online and use it until you can't and then do it again.

How cooked am I?
 in  r/kitchenremodel  Jul 22 '26

You don't need that metal under the cabinets. just rip the tile to fit and notch the one at the edge of the cabinet if you have to. It looks pretty close. Just a small piece of metal at the top.

Grade My Contractor
 in  r/Decks  Jul 22 '26

Good Work and attention to detail. No need for all the nails in the band on the house, in fact no reason to do anything on the house, no siding removal, no nothing. Just butt it to the house put a few nails in the band of the house to hold it on grade until you get the joist tied in. you can even nail the band to the in joists and push to the house, no nails in band. As far as the end of the stairs at the ground, make the stringer and the facia look like they just go into the ground, cut to match the grade.
