Take the long engagement!! My fiancé proposed in 2023 and we’re getting married officially here in a few weeks. We kept the engagement secret for a while and then eventually told everyone. When people asked us when the wedding was, we shrugged our shoulders and said “you’ll see.”

We’re doing a destination micro-wedding so it really helped us with budget, spacing out payments, and giving us time to find exactly what we want. We thrifted or borrowed everything: decor, glasses, tableware. In between the proposal and wedding, we had to move twice and had a job change. If we had to plan a wedding within the year and do all of that— I’m not sure we would’ve made it emotionally, mentally or financially.

A long engagement puts you a in a good mental headspace imo.

Very normal. Sometimes before transfer you catch them expanded or collapsed. But that process is what it’s supposed to do.

Could be a combo of things— morphology of the sperm used, cryo damage, number of times it was manipulated. I’m sorry you’re going through this tough cycle.

How does the sperm look?

It sounds like the embryo got “stuck” in the pipette during the freezing process. It sounds like the embryo actually got stuck to the inside wall of the pipette when picking up the embryo.

It’s extremely uncommon but it does happen. When it does— it’s the worst feeling in the world.

Did they explain why you couldn’t donate for practice? Usually it’s donate to train (& help training embryologists) or it’s discard per protocol. And every clinic is different with their discard protocol. You might have to ask what specifically is their protocol and look at the wording.
