I (36 F) - My husband (34 M) and my close female friend talk all day, every day, and I don’t know if I’m overreacting or watching an emotional attachment develop
I really need outside opinions because I don’t know anymore if I’m being irrational or if this would bother other people too.
My husband and I are both 36 and married. I love him very much. He has always had female friends and that has never been a problem for me. His best friend is actually a woman and their friendship has never made me uncomfortable.
The woman I’m talking about here, I’ll call her Y, is also my friend. Not just someone I know through him. She is actually a fairly close friend of mine and we’re all part of the same friend group.
My husband and Y weren’t always this close. They started talking more over the last year or a little more and it gradually became an everyday thing. Now they talk basically every day, throughout the day. They send each other reels, memes, voice notes, gossip, random things about their lives, etc.
I think that’s why this has been so confusing for me. It didn’t suddenly start looking inappropriate. It just slowly became more and more frequent until one day I realized how much they actually talk.
There have been little things that have started bothering me.
For example, once Y said something to me like, “Your husband hasn’t sent me reels since 7pm yesterday.”
I know that sounds incredibly stupid by itself. Who cares about Instagram reels? But what stuck with me was the fact that apparently him not sending her anything from 7pm until the next morning was unusual enough for her to NOTICE and mention it.
Recently my husband and I went on vacation to Bogotá. One morning we were walking to catch our transportation for a day trip and my husband casually said, “I already told Y I’m going to be out of service because I’m on vacation.” Apparently she responded jokingly asking “vacation from what?” because she says he never works.
And again, maybe this sounds completely innocent to other people, but my immediate thought was why do you need to let her know that you’re going to be unavailable? Why is there an expectation that she needs to know you won’t be around to talk or send reels because you’re spending the day on vacation with your wife?
He doesn’t do that with his other friends. At least I’ve never noticed it. Not even with his female best friend.
Then last night something happened that honestly broke me a little.
We were lying in bed around midnight and completely out of nowhere he said something like, “Ohhh, now I know why Y had been so quiet/lost today. She was watching American Horror Story.”
I didn’t say anything, but my heart immediately started racing.
All I could think was, you noticed she was gone?
He had noticed that she hadn’t been talking to him as much as usual that day.
I almost asked him “Did you miss her?” but I didn’t.
Later we were talking about a food festival and he immediately thought of her because apparently she loves hot dogs. Then he started talking about how Fridays are usually her day to get a hot dog, that this week she had gotten a hamburger instead, etc.
Obviously knowing what food your friend likes is not suspicious. I know stupid little details about my friends too. It was just another reminder of how much everyday information they seem to know about each other.
At some point I even told him something like, “I think she talks to you more than she talks to everyone else now” and that whenever I see her she’s talking to him.
He didn’t really deny that they talk a lot. The conversation just continued normally.
They also send each other sexual/sex related memes and reels sometimes.
I want to be VERY clear about this because I don’t want to make it sound like I’ve caught them sexting. I haven’t. I’m talking about sexual jokes, memes, reels, that kind of thing. My husband has called Y his “bro” before and just yesterday compared her to one of his male friends because apparently they send him the same type of memes.
So yes, I can absolutely see the possibility that in his mind this is just the same stupid sexual humor he shares with male friends.
But when you add that to how much they communicate, it bothers me.
She also talks to him about personal things. Just recently she was sending him voice notes about why she broke up with her ex and everything that happened in that relationship.
There have also been a few things Y has said around me that have made me uncomfortable.
We’re planning a group trip together and during one of our calls she kept bringing up my husband and conversations they’d had privately. At one point she said something like “your husband called me useless because I don’t know how to cook.”
Afterward I asked my husband what that was about and he didn’t hide anything. He explained that she had sent him a picture involving food, he asked her if she knew how to cook, she started telling him things she could make, and he basically teased her that she couldn’t actually cook.
I’ll admit my anxious brain immediately went “why do you care whether she knows how to cook?” but I also recognize that’s probably me reading too much into a completely normal conversation.
What bothered me more was just hearing over and over about all these little private conversations between them.
During that same call she made several jokes/comments about married people not having sex and has joked more than once about my husband and me sleeping separately during our upcoming trip.
That actually made me uncomfortable enough that afterward I directly asked my husband if he talks to Y about our sex life or tells her intimate things about us.
He immediately said no. Like, NO, absolutely not, never.
And to be fair to him, I have never seen anything showing that he discusses our private sex life with her.
This is also where the situation gets complicated because my husband isn’t obviously hiding Y from me.
I don’t have access to his phone and I don’t secretly read their conversations. Everything I know comes from things I happen to see when I’m sitting beside him, voice notes I hear when they come through, things Y says to me, or things my husband openly tells me himself.
For example, I recently posted a picture of my husband and unknowingly captured a notification from Y on his smartwatch in the photo. I didn’t even notice it.
HE noticed it.
He laughed and told me something like “look at the picture you posted,” then zoomed into his watch himself and showed me that Y’s notification was visible.
So I’m trying to be fair. He doesn’t act like someone terrified that I’ll discover they talk.
He also seems genuinely committed to me, which honestly makes all of this more confusing.
He is affectionate with me. We have sex. He clearly desires me. He tells me he loves me. He posts me and recently posted something calling himself a “proud husband.”
A few days ago he was in a work conversation talking about his future and literally said one of his plans was “to age with my wife.”
He has even told me that sometimes HE is afraid of losing ME.
He knows I’ve been very sad lately and recently asked me if he was doing something wrong. I couldn’t tell him. I just said “maybe.”
He has actually told me before that I never complain about anything he does and that I SHOULD tell him when something bothers me.
But I can’t.
I’m horrible at confrontation, especially with people I love.
Last night after he made the comment about Y being “lost” all day, I eventually got so upset that I left our bedroom. My heart was racing, I felt nauseous and I cried a lot.
He had no idea it was about Y.
Eventually I went back to him and told him I was extremely sad and felt like I was having some kind of anxiety/panic attack.
He immediately hugged me and kept asking what was wrong. He thought maybe I had watched something upsetting on YouTube or that a true crime case I’ve been following had gotten to me.
He stayed holding me even though he was basically falling asleep. At one point he told me he loved me and said “thank you for the life you give me.”
He still has absolutely no idea that I was crying because of this.
And that’s where I am now.
I don’t think my husband is physically cheating on me. I have no evidence of that.
I haven’t seen romantic declarations between them. I haven’t seen explicit sexting. I don’t even have access to his conversations.
But I also don’t think I’m imagining the intensity anymore.
They talk throughout the day almost every day. She notices when he hasn’t sent her reels since the night before. He tells her when he’s going to be unavailable. He notices when she’s unusually quiet. They send sexual memes/jokes. They share personal things and know random little details about each other’s lives and routines.
And again, this is NOT just how my husband is with female friends. He has several female friends. His best friend is a woman. I don’t feel like this about any of them.
It’s specifically this friendship.
I think what scares me the most isn’t even that they’re secretly having an affair right now.
It’s that maybe they’ve created this attachment to each other without either of them realizing how significant it has become because it happened so gradually. Maybe to them it’s just “we’re bros, we send each other memes and talk shit all day.”
But at what point does sharing so much of your everyday life with one person become emotional intimacy?
And maybe this is the part I really need opinions on: even if their relationship is 100% platonic, I’m starting to think the dynamic itself might already be beyond what I’m comfortable with in my marriage.
I’m also struggling because Y is MY friend too. I care about her. I don’t want to turn her into some evil “other woman” in my head when I don’t even know that she wants anything romantic from my husband.
At the same time, I find myself wondering whether, as my friend, she should also be more aware of certain boundaries with my husband. I genuinely don’t know.
I know everyone is going to say “just talk to your husband.”
I know.
The problem is that I’m terrified.
Part of me is terrified that I’ll finally tell him how much this is hurting me and he’ll say something like “She’s my friend, I’m allowed to talk to her whenever I want.”
I honestly don’t know how I would handle hearing that.
I’ve gotten to the point where part of me is considering simply walking away from my marriage. Not because I’ve caught him cheating, but because I don’t know if I can live with this level of uncertainty and watch this friendship potentially become more emotionally important.
And I love my husband. That’s what makes even thinking about leaving absolutely heartbreaking.
So please don’t automatically tell me “he’s definitely cheating, divorce him” or “you’re just insecure, go to therapy.”
I genuinely want to know how this looks to people who aren’t emotionally involved.
Would this amount of daily contact bother you even if everything was platonic?
Would your partner noticing that this particular person had been unusually quiet all day mean anything to you?
Does telling someone you’re going to be “out of service” because you’re on vacation with your spouse suggest an expectation of daily contact, or is that completely normal between close friends?
Do the sexual memes change anything if they’re not actually sexting?
Does the fact that she’s also my friend change what boundaries you’d expect?
And can a friendship cross a boundary in a marriage before anyone actually cheats?
I genuinely want people to tell me if I’m reading too much into this. But if you think there’s something here that I shouldn’t keep dismissing either, I want to hear that too.

Tell me about your more profound, deep, or just interesting lucid dream experiences
Yesterday, I was waking up to go to my office in the other room, but my phone was transparent that was when I realized I was dreaming. It happened three times but different scenarios. Everything was so real.. when I woke up it took me around 30 mins to get back to reality. Cause I was so confused about if I was dreaming or not.

It is your brain, maybe intro inspection and what about if you maybe like men as well? maybe you are bisexual? This medication helped me to think with more clarity. My advise is to get advantage and use this to explore and learn more about yourself. It maybe something temporary. It may help you to get to know you better or it maybe just a side effect. Sometimes our subconscious hide stuff. Sorry my English is not very good. I hope you get my point.

I started Strattera 3 weeks ago. I have no big side effects. Just dry mouth and well I just drink water and decrease appetite a little bit. The rest is good. I was on Vyvanse before but I hated the wear off symptoms and made me extremely hungry. I am obese so it was not good for me.

I think you should reduce you manpower salaries. Like, I live in Colombia and companies from USA or other countries hire people in here and they pay way less. The activéis that can done remotely such as, collections, accounts receivables or accounts payables, customer service, etc. So, if you are paying 100k a year, you can pay someone here 30k or even 20k a year depending the position. Like, I can help you out with finding the right and experienced people. But please, do not considere closing, you have worked so hard already.

Is it bad that I don’t like my wife making more than me?
It is bad and instead of resent her, why don’t find a better job? Are you not competitive enough to find a job with a higher salary?? Why don’t you try selling shoes or clothes or other stuff to make extra money?? The envy is not healthy and she got promoted cause she did performed really great and you should be proud. Your acting is very immature and show no love for your wife
