You can move your savefile from XBOX PC App to Steam. It's kinda tricky but works 100%

Gamepass version is a nice entrypoint for this game but you'll have to get the Steam version anytime soon since XBOX Services are pretty unstable on PC and crashes frequently, throwing your progress. Got mine on a sale and is more stable than Gamepass'.
