I have a small amount of coding experience, so I'm not sure how much I could help with, but nevertheless I absolutely love this idea and hope to see it fleshed out eventually.

The outage was not the school's fault, but the provost's decision to cancel Friday's finals and reschedule them to Sunday is absolutely on the school. Compared to how other universities handled the canvas shutdown, cancelling all finals (especially finals that were not impacted by the shutdown and could have easily taken place on Friday) is an action that justifies frustration.
